Our NAVTA Student Chapter celebrated their first "pie" day on 3.14. In the week leading up to it they sold pie AND tickets for our faculty and staff to get "pied" in the face with whipping cream. Students pied teachers, and faculty pied one another. Ms. Carolyn, our Financial Aid Coordinator, won the raffle to pie our School Director. This was not an event to miss!! 🥧🥧🥧

On March 12 we had Dr. Stephanie Grissom discuss the importance of work-life balance in the veterinary field and its impact on mental health. She spoke about her own experience in the field as a vet tech as well as a veterinarian and give us tips to better understand our needs and how they need to be met. We would love to have her come back again!!

Mr. Fahey is our Psychology adjunct instructor, and always brings his service dog - Seamus - in for good luck at finals time. Seamus is also a very good therapist. :)

Term finals are this week, and students have been studying hard and reviewing in all of their classes. Ms. Granado had them decorating gingerbread houses during her review yesterday. Might as well have some sweet fun while learning!

Our NAVTA Student Chapter end of the year event was a rounding success! Faculty, students, and their families went to the Houston Interactive Aquarium and Animal Preserve. Our students value these extracurricular activities as an addition to our curriculum.

VTI students had breakfast with VCA Animal Hospital Managers Roscoe and Tanya. They gave them great tips and ideas about the field. it was a great event and VCA is looking forward to doing more in the future.

It’s such a great experience here at VTI-Houston when you experience two cohorts working in the lab together, as you can see, we have the Seniors managing anesthesia while the Sophomore’s practice their dental skills.

Clinical Pathology students combined their two favorite things - eating sweets and veterinary medicine! Each cookie is a cell, and they’re adding the cellular components using yummy stuff. It's not everyday you can eat your class work!

Kudos to the students who volunteered at the SPCA adoption event. Marcus and Olive are especially appreciative, our students helped them find their forever homes! Vet Techs (both students and graduates) do so much to help the animal community. 🐾❤

We were proud that so many students came to hear our after school speaker. Soft skills for a Veterinary Technician are very important, and we had three practice managers in from Mission Veterinary Partners to talk about how to be a GREAT Technician.
