On this day, in 2019 I drove to Harris County Pets and adopted this beautiful golden boy. I brought him home and doted on him. I introduced him to Ace, and solid brothers they became. Oliver fills my heart and bring so much joy to my life every single day! The best part (along with all the other million best parts), is that he lets me rub his belly every night as we fall asleep not too many dogs let us do that.
Oliver, you are my Golden boy ! Thank you for letting me be your mommy! I love you more every day.

🐾💔 Saying goodbye to your pet is one of the hardest parts of being a pet owner, and it can be a difficult decision. A scale is available to help assess your pet’s quality of life. Your pet is scored on several factors on a scale from 1 to 10, with 10 being ideal. Here are some factors to consider:

🥺 Hurt: Does your pet exhibit signs they are in pain or are having trouble breathing?
🍽 Hunger: How is your pet’s appetite? Are they eating enough to maintain their body weight?
💦 Hydration: Can your pet’s hydration be maintained by drinking or do they need subcutaneous fluids?
🧼 Hygiene: Can your pet groom themselves normally? If not, can you keep their coat clean and dry?
😊 Happiness: Does your pet still enjoy interacting with you and like to play and be petted?
🦶 Mobility: Can your pet still move around normally without pain? Do they need assistance?
🌞 More good days than bad: Does your pet have more good days than bad? Once their bad days start outnumbering their good days, you should consider euthanasia.

If your pet scores 35 or lower, it may be time to consider a peaceful passing with euthanasia. Remember, this is a tough decision, but always prioritize your pet’s well-being and quality of life.
