Although this week is National we try to show our teammate Taylor everyday how valued she is by our doctors/team but also how loved she is by our patients- even when they step on her, nibble on her, blow their nose and occasionally possibly 💩 on her. Tay, our doctors could not be nearly as successful and on point without you as our right hand! Thank you for the countless long nights, early mornings, rain or shine hours that you have put in to help make this practice operate every day!!

The Coastal Elite team officially gained a new member! Please join us in welcoming our new veterinarian- Dr. Laura Bylina!
Dr. Laura Bylina is Hunterdon county, NJ native who grew up riding and working at local hunter/jumper farms. She received her Bachelors in Animal Science from the University of Connecticut and was a mixed animal veterinary technician following graduation.

In 2013, Laura decided to pursue a Masters in Equine Reproduction with a specialty in stallion reproduction at Colorado State University. While at CSU, she worked in the stallion lab for 3 years handling/collecting stallions for shipment, performing research, and was involved in teaching many of the CSU reproductive short courses.

Following her Masters, Dr. Laura pursued a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at St. George’s University and completed her clinical year at The Ohio State University graduating Magna Cum Laude. Dr. Bylina’s interests include preventative medicine, internal medicine, and reproduction. In her spare time, Laura enjoys spending time with family and friends, hiking, and fishing.

Productive collaboration amongst your animal health care team is so important for progress! At Coastal Elite we pride ourselves on the relationships we build with our fellow colleagues of farriers and referral clinics. It is so fulfilling to see a tough case through to the other side where the patient comfortable, content, and according to owners has an enlightened personality again. This is why we do what we do, and put in the long hours.
In these photos you will see Mr. Baby Surprise reviewing his radiographs, which to our delight, he now has over 15mm of sole. Back in August this poor guy only had 2mm of sole. This is the epitome of “trust the process”. Laminitis is an awful disease and requires ‘all in’ care for success. These loving owners went above and beyond in their dedication to bringing their horse to comfort. Through many ups and downs over the last few years, through extensive pristine farrier work by Challan with custom built shoes, Baby is happy, comfortable, and TROTTING through his field. 🥺🤗

This one of the most common calls we get this time of the of year… “my horse is drooling excessively, what is wrong??” . . This is called ‘slobbers’. Its a reaction that animals get from eating clover with sudden onset excessive salivation but acting normally otherwise- interested in food, drinking water, passing manure. It is not an emergency, it is not at all painful. As long as they have access to fresh clean water, they will be fine and it will pass in a few hours! Never hesitate to reach out if you have concerns or questions, but hopefully this helps elevate some stress from owners! #vetmed #farmvet #clover #pony #slobbers
