Calling all dog lovers! We need fosters!! As many of you know, Dogtown has a wonderful program where we take in dogs for a local rural dog rescue Homeward Bound Animal Rescue and work on finding them homes. Dogs can’t come to Dogtown without being fully vetted and tested to the same (and even greater) standard than client dogs.

This rescue gets Breeder surrenders and puppy mill “dumps” as well as pregnant moms, abandoned litters, and even owner surrenders. So many dogs need homes and we are calling on our clients to help foster!

Several dogs are coming into the rescue in the upcoming days and they are not ready for dogtown. They need to be fixed, and they need rabies and bordetella shots. They do have their other shots and have been dewormed. We will need the fosters to be taken to the vet we work with in downtown Cincinnati Rover The Rhine Veterinary Hospital for these things before they can come to daycare. All veterinary expenses are paid for by the rescue, we just need your help getting the dogs there and for them the be housed in a home temporarily until they are fully vetted and ready for our program!

The following dogs need fosters as they are coming in from a puppy mill surrender situation:

Six Cavalier King Charles spaniels
Four 3 month old doodle puppies
One adult doodle
Three 4 month old cockapoo puppies
Three 7 month old cockapoo puppies.

Heat Advisory

At our doggie daycare, we understand that heat can be a concern for our furry friends. That’s why we have implemented various measures to ensure their comfort and safety, including providing plenty of shade, AC, Fans, and regular breaks to prevent overheating. Dogs will not be hanging outside like we normally allow, we have regulated breaks set in place for the dogs. Our staff is also trained to monitor the temperature and humidity levels and take action to ensure a comfortable environment for all our canine guests! Training tip of the week! Each Sunday I will post a training tip to help you and your canine counterparts achieve your goals together. Tip #1: Feed your dog their meals out of interactive toys. Dogs have an inherent need to forage. They require mental and physical stimulation every day to keep them healthy, happy, and well behaved. If your dog is jumping on counters, getting into the trash, or digging holes in the back yard, they need foraging opportunities. Not only will feeding them out of puzzle toys act as a constructive outlet for their need to forage, but it will also mentally exhaust them.
