Our building is not only user friendly for visitors and staff, but also caters to the needs and comforts of our 4 legged guests as well. Our successful adoption rates are close to the highest in the state, a fact we are very proud of and work hard to maintain. We are staffed by 2 full time Animal control officers, 1 full time shelter attendant, 1 part time shelter attendant and a number of wonderf

ul, dedicated volunteers.

***Because more often then not we only have one person in the office at a time and to avoid any over lap in care we ask that you call and make an appointment to come by and look around or meet a possible a new family member! Please call ahead to schedule an appointment and to ensure the officer is not out on an animal call, or emergency. Also, most Fridays and Saturdays you can meet some of our cats and kittens at Petco in Washington City at our weekly adoption event.

For your consideration of adoption, we present, Kevin!
He was found running around SR7, but after no one recognizing him, we got him cleaned up at the groomers so that he's one step closer to finding a home! He does need to be neutered still but while we are working on setting up an appointment for that, Kevin let us know he'd love to have some meeting and greets!
We think he's around 3-4 years old, he gets along with other dogs big or small and does great at the groomers for baths and blow outs to help maintain that beautiful coat of his. He even does well for nail trims! This sweet boy wants to be around his people a lot, so if someone is looking for an awesome adventure buddy, come meet Kevin!

We hear quite a bit "my dog was just given a bath, so their collar wasn't on" Your dog will still dry with their collar and tags on...😊 Please also make sure your microchip is registered, with CURRENT owner information. "Luke" came in to us as a surrender as his owner passed away and family member couldn't keep him. He came in with Friday. Since Luke has been here he has become very reserved and hides alot. He is hissy and has tried swatting when he gets very scared. We know he doesn't want to be this way because when he first came in he was very sweet. We think with the stress of being here and the room full of cats/kittens we have is not helping. Can anyone give this guy a nice, quiet home? We think he might have been indoor/outdoor. HELP I AM LOST....

This sweet boy and two other dogs seen running with him have now been brought into the Hurricane shelter in the last 48 hours. All three dogs were dragging attached leashes. They all were originally seen running around on the southside of 100 E. He was found (6/26) by a citizen and dropped off at a local vet. If anyone has any information on this guy, or the owner please call the shelter. We would really like to get these three dogs home. 435-635-8314. Thank you!!!

Update: "DEPUTY" As of 7/2 this handsome feller will be available for adoption!! No owners have come forward for him yet. We think he is about 3 years old and is an Akita or Akita mix. He seems to have a docile personality and is very quiet here. He will be getting neuter on 7/3 and can then find his forever home. We have not dog tested him yet, we will update as we get more information. If you are interested in meeting him starting 7/2 please call our office at 435-635-8314 to set up an appt to see him.

The 4th of July is coming up. No better time then now to make sure your yards are secure, collars with updated tags are worn by the pups to make sure if they get out, they return home quickly!

Between now and July 4th, there will be a 30-60% increase in lost dogs. More dogs will go missing on the 4th than any other day of the year. Shelters are already at or beyond capacity, so let’s make sure we don’t give them even more dogs to look after.

If your dog is afraid of fireworks, BE PREPARED. If you got a puppy in the last 12 months and this will be its first 4th of July, consider that this could be a really scary weekend for them.

Avoid taking your dog to any events in unfamiliar places, especially if fireworks are involved. Scared dogs run and it’s not worth the risk, so leave them at home.

Here are some additional tips to keep your pup safe this coming holiday!

Friday came to us after her person passed away. We think she's around 6 years old with her quiet demeaner. She loves to have attention but isn't pushy and in your face about getting attention. If someone is looking of a snuggly cat to hang out on the couch while watching a movie with, Friday is your girl!

We are still learning her personality so as we know more about her, we will update her bio!

This little guy was picked up by an Officer today (6/21) he was found in the area of about 300 E. 920 N. in Hurricane. He is the first of a few kittens reportedly living in a large rock wall in the area. The others are much smaller and this guy has been handled, where the others not so much. Adoptable Luke!

Luke came to us when his person passed away so he's still settling in at the moment. He can be stand offish at first but it's because he's nervous and unsure about what's going on. He was an indoor/outdoor cat so was probably also a great mouser! He's now neutered and up to date on vaccines. He would love a calm home to move into cause once he trusts you, he's extremely sweet.

Ducky has informed us he's meant to be an only child. He doesn't mind seeing other animals out in public, but he doesn't want them in his personal space and doesn't want to share his people either. He would rather lay around the house with a family, maybe play with some toys but so long as he gets cuddles and gets to be included, that's all he asks.

Chili is starting to realize that the pool is something of interest to play in! Her personality is beginning to come out and she’s showing how playful she is!

Little Miss Piper is full of spunk and is ready to be the best adventure buddy there could possibly be!

Blossom sure does love playing with the hose! She's still not quite sure why we have a pool out for her yet, but a couple minutes with the sprinkler on sure makes her happy! Blossom is est. to be around 2 years old and is a sm/med girl, weighing in at 28lbs! While she can be pretty shy, once you have her trust, you have a friend for life! Blossom here sure loves to play with the water when we are filling up the pool or topping off the water bowl for them outside!

The girls, Blossom and Buttercup, enjoying some outside time with a couple visitors! These girls are both available for adoption and while they do need a little help in the socializing department, they tend to warm up to women quickly while remaining unsure about guys at the time being.

Johnny's favorite game is keep away! He doesn't seem to really care about playing with a lot of toys yet, but he does love bounding around and playing chase! After bouncing around and running in circles, he likes to get some pets before starting over again!

Dodger would love to wish everyone a Happy New Year! He would love to know your New Year’s resolution! His is hoping to find a home in the New Year! He’s our only adoptable dog currently and he wants someone to play with so bad! He’s a very leggy boy, standing at 27 1/2 at the shoulder, but he promises to be the best snuggle buddy ever!

Dodger and Max are still here at the shelter wondering why they haven’t found their homes yet! Both boys do good with other dogs and while Max loves to play and play, Dodger likes to play then wonder around together! Call the shelter at 435-635-8314 if interested in either of these handsome boys!

ECHO HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!! Miss Echo loves to play! She is a very active girl with energy to spare but will sit so nicely while you grab the toy and get ready to throw it for her! Although she does need to work on bringing the toy all the way back to you! She gets distracted by wanting attention often!
