Severine helped me make an ultrasound tutorial video. The throw pillows worked well to prop her up 😅 Sevy is such a good girl. I did a full scan and can confirm that there is a single puppy. This means that our big trip to Arizona to meet Zeus will end in a cesarean in the first week of January. Hoping for a healthy pup and a quick recovery for Sevy!

This is part of the unpredictable nature of breeding dogs. We can plan ahead, invest thousands and dedicate a week of travel to get no pups at all! Luckily we are expecting a singleton pup that will likely require a surgical assist to join the world. We are grateful for this puppy, and they will stay here or go to one of our partners. This pup will be loved!

Demir/Xena’s fourth pup Forrest 🌲 He has had an eventful life already with some therapy on his rear legs in his first week of life. The good news is that he is using his rear legs, has great tone, and he is responding to the therapy (splints, now massage and range of motion exercises).

We will post more about his story as it develops, but this little guy was born with some twisted rear legs. This can happen when uterine placement isn’t ideal and the puppy is motion restricted as they grow so quickly in their momma. We have never had this happen before, so it’s been a learning opportunity for Natalie and the family. Thanks to our wonderful Vet and breeder friends, we are doing everything to help Forrest get his legs in normal working order! It’s a good thing puppies are basically made of cartilage when they are born.

Forrest is doing great with his little paw splints. All puppies are active, nursing well, and moving around their whelping box well!

Xena gave us 4 beautiful puppies yesterday, and we are so grateful for the opportunity to raise these pups for the farms and families who need them!
