Stride Away Stables has rare lesson opportunities available on our own lesson horses.

We have recently had riders move on to our more advanced horses or purchased their own.

We focus on teaching our students the fundamentals of riding and build off of those skills as the rider continues to develop.

Stride Away Stables attended the Erie Hunt and Saddle Club end of the year, award banquet last night. We had two riders place in the top!

Brynley Breisch and her 3 year old OTTB mare, Osa Azula were Reserve Champion in the Walk Trot Division and 3rd for overall Thoroughbred points. Can't wait to see where this team goes as Kelpie continue to grow and mature.

Harper and Quill's Galaxy were 5th in both Junior Equitation and Walk Trot. They continue to work hard and plan on entering canter divisions next season!

Stride Away Stables attended the 4-H State Horse Show in Harrisburg this past weekend. We had a wonderful time and brought home some ribbons! It's a privilege to even be able to attend but it's always a plus to place in the top ten.
Harper and Swan made their debut in both Eq over fences and Hunter Under saddle. This was Harper's first time making it to States and Swans first time going outside of the beginner classes. They brought home a 4th and 8th in the hack.

Taylor and Lady had some of the best rounds over fences that we have seen them have but were right outside of the ribbons in some amazing competition!

Rayna and Disco made their States debut but the big Arena stressed Disco out. Rayna handled him like a trooper but did not get a call back.

Brynley and Diamond made it in Hunter Under Saddle Horsea 8-13 and had a respectable placing of 8th out of 20.

I am always looking for ways to continue educating myself about our Equine friends and boy did I learn a ton from Kayla Burgess!! Kayla has had her hands on every horse in the barn and was able to write up a suggested diet for each horse. As of September 11th, Stride Away Stables will be utilizing Poulin Grains. She tested our hay and was able to tell me that the hay was very good quality and the main reason our horses do stay so healthy and look so well. We also got mineral/nutrient charts for each horse showing what they get from the hay and what they need to get from our feed based off of weight, age, breed, health, and activity level. Now that we have actual numbers, we can better care for our horses. We will even be able to take away some supplements bc they will no longer be needed. I highly recommend reaching out to an Equine nutrionalist......it was unbelievably enlightening!!

Every Christmas season, we as a barn, pick a charity or a good cause to donate to. This year we decided that we would pick a Christmas Angel off of one of the local trees. We chose an older gentleman, thinking that most would choose the young kids, leaving the elders behind. Everyone pitched in and the kids all went shopping tonight.
The older girls are really starting to step up and become the leaders that I already knew they could be!! Makaela took charge, armed with the list and the money, and took all the kids through Walmart. It was great to see. They marched through the aisles, looking for exactly what was on the list and ended by picking out a Christmas card to include with the gifts.
There are so many amazing kids all around, and I am lucky to be constantly surrounded by them!! This is a rough year for everyone but you can find so much good surrounding you......you just have to open your eyes. Merry Christmas everyone!!

We had a blast spreading some much needed Christmas cheer in Clymer, PA today. We were armed with the greatest horses, lots of great friends, and some mediocre singing voices😂😂.

We had an awesome weekend at Chagrin Valley Farms.
Kate and Max placed 5th in 2'3" hunters, Karma and Krystal placed 3rd, 4th, and 6th in 2'9" jumpers and Makaela and Duckie won Grand Champion in the 3ft Jumpers. Way to go everyone!!

A lot might be cancelled, due to the corona virus, but we have still been busy!! We had 5 new jumps made and have been working on painting them!

Had a great weekend at the Sewickley Hunt Show. Had a great group of riders that brought home a bunch of ribbons and learned a ton. The classes were huge and every ride was not perfect but it was a great experience. So proud of all the horses and riders. Great job ladies!

I am still accepting applications for our Summer Camps and I will adjust the dates if the kids are required to attend school later. We will just have to wait and see what happens as it gets closer :)
