Melody, China, and Nick arrived here at the Cat Clinic of Issaquah in 2003, 1998, and 2000, respectively. I couldn't have done it without them! They've been fabulous, loyal employees for me, and they are migrating over to the new practice.
Puget Sound Consumers' Checkbook conducts a customer service poll on 210 Veterinary practices in the region, and thanks to these three, plus Sandie who continues to avoid COVID at home, we've had the highest ratings of all of those practices for the last couple of years. Huge thanks to all four of them. Bravo!!!

Dear friends and clients of the Cat Clinic of Issaquah:

It is with mixed emotions that I am announcing my fast-approaching retirement. I will be forever grateful for the opportunity I've had to know all of you, and to care for your feline companions. I've always appreciated the trust you've placed in me and in my tremendous, faithful staff, and that you've allowed us to share in both your joys and sorrows.

I've practiced feline medicine in Issaquah for almost 30 years now. I am so fortunate to have worked with such a supportive clientele in a place that I love, within half a mile of my father's birthplace, and to have gotten to work with so many incredible pets and people over the years. There are many things that I will miss, not the least of which is feeling like a part of so many families and being trusted to care for so many cats. I've truly appreciated your support. It's been an honor to serve you.

I am very pleased to tell you that the new owners of my practice are Laura George, DVM, her husband, Nicholas George, PhD, and their Veterinary practice: Meadows Cat Hospital. Over the next few weeks, they will be merging and consolidating my practice into their newly expanded facility near QFC on Gilman Boulevard. Once the merge is complete, the combined practices will be known as the Cat Hospital of Issaquah. Our facility will be closing after business on April 15th.

You will find that Dr. George practices with compassion for both pets and their humans. She knows the importance of earning and keeping the trust of both her patients and their owners. You and your cats will be in good hands, and her hands come with a good heart.

Thank you so much for your ongoing support all these years. Stay safe, be well, and love your pets.

Happy trails!
Stephen A. Hill, DVM

This very handsome Ragdoll is Apollo, and he is looking for a new home. He does have some special needs - he doesn't seem to tolerate canned food, children, or other pets, although the canned food is the only one of these that he actually eats! He really is a sweety with a sensitive stomach! If you're interested or have questions you may contact his owner at: [email protected]

Thanks to his microchip, we've reunited this sweet boy with his owner three times since August, including twice just last week! Also, he's shown up three other times at other facilities for the same id service. It's got to be some kind of a record. If you want to have a reunion, get your pet microchipped! If you want to avoid the need for the reunion, get them microchipped and then teach the kids to keep the doors closed! ;-)

These three Siberian littermates, belonging to two different families, happened to show up here within an hour of each other this week. The Siberian breed is touted as being hypoallergenic for people with cat allergies, but you don't have to be allergic to appreciate their cuteness! These kittens are also very sweet and very active, hence the big blur factor.

Here's an inspiring story of dedication from one of the most distressed places on the planet. Mr. Aljaleel says he will continue caring for the cats of Aleppo "no matter what happens". If he can do it, so can we.

Meet Mohammad Alaa Aljaleel, also known as ‘the cat man of Aleppo’, Syria. Despite all the tragedy and devastation happening in his war-torn city, Aljaleel is staying there - ''no matter what happens''- to take care of more than a hundred stray and abandoned cats.

Just in case someone didn't already see this "cat fight" (it's really more like pattycakes) - they're so much more civilized than our politicians. If tomorrow's debate were to look something like this, we wouldn't all feel the need to take a shower afterwards...

If bladder stones are small enough in cats, they can be removed sometimes without surgery. The urethra of a female cat can accomodate stones up to 2 - 3 mm in diameter. We removed this cat's 60 stones, or so, last week under anesthesia with a catheter and steriile saline, and no surgery. What a relief!

These two beautiful brothers, about 5 months old, are looking for a loving, forever home together. They are true rescues, havng been found abandoned by the side of a busy street when they were just wee, little lads. They've been very well cared for in their guardian angel's home, and have been neutered, and now they just need you to send an email to meet them. Contact: [email protected]

Big thanks to our client Annie who kept us deep in Dahlias for this last month! If you ever need to know if a particular plant is toxic to cats or dogs, check out the ASPCA Animal Poison Control website: http://www.aspca.org/pet-care/animal-poison-control/toxic-and-non-toxic-plants
They list Dahlias as mildly upsetting to the digestive tract of cats and dogs so we were careful to prevent access to the flowers and their falling parts.

Here's another of the same lion that I posted yesterday, this time greeting his brother last night. My current stay at Entim Camp has once again been filled with plenty of lions, leopard and cheetah. If you'd like to accompany me on game drive to pick up a few photographic tips then I will be "in residence" in camp in June and November this year, so be sure to arrange your visit during those months. I hope to meet some of you then!

There was a cat delay in the middle of a baseball game at Angels stadium recently. It ended well, and the cat got a great big hand, because cats are just that popular, and because it's the only time anyone ever saw someone try to steal first base! ;-)

Here's some good cat news for Earth Day. The world's tiger population appears to have increased from 3200 to 3800 over the last several years. Some of the credit should go to the Dalai Lama who insisted ten years ago that Tibetans stop using tiger skins ceremonially, thereby removing a big part of the black market for poached skins from India.

http://www.sciencealert.com/the-world-tiger-population-has-increased-for-the-first-time-in-100-years

For the first time in a century, the global wild tiger population has increased, giving hope to conservation efforts after many decades of seeing numbers dwindling. According to figures provided by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), there are now a...

NIgel is one of our favorite patients. He used to be quite a prickly curmudgeon, but now, thanks largely to our Nick's consistently positive support and encouragement, (and maybe having his favorite nap spot from home - the paper bag inside the basket) he trusts us and is even quite friendly. He also has numerous medical problems and, amazingly, eats all 6 of his medicines in his food. We should all be so lucky with our cats on medicine!
