We wanted to say a big thank you to Kasha & John for purchasing 2 of these kennels from Tractor Supply. We have had to replace several kennels that are rusty & falling apart from years of wear & tear. We can't thank you enough ❤️🐾.....they are also donating sheet metal to put on outside kennels to replace the tarps. Thank you to Mr. Don for hanging the metal roofs.....so helpful for when it rains or snows.

We also want to thank all those who drop off dog food, blankets, cleaning supplies, dog toys, ect........we can't do this without the community's support. ❤️🐾

We also want to thank all of our volunteers who have to deal with this extreme heat & come take care of the dogs. We can't forget about our transport drivers, fosters who foster kittens & puppies. ❤️🐾

Hello all Best Friends Sanctuary supporters, Jan will be again at MJ Furniture lot on Thursday, July 18 from 1pm to 4 pm accepting donations for the shelter. Look for the van with the Best Friends sign on it and bring items for donation. We are accepting any item on the list as well as cash or check money donations. The shelter just had an influx of several large litters of puppies. Anything you can donate is much appreciated. Check the list.Thank you

Congratulations Morgan County!!! If only our county would follow suit. We tried in our monthly meetings & it was shut down. How many dogs have to suffer??

There has been some confusion with some of our supporters on this ad so we wanted to let everyone know that we are not part of this group & this is not Best Friends fundraiser. We have done a spay-ghetti fundraiser in the past & hope to do another one soon. We wish much success to Jamestown Animal Advocates fundraiser to help with the spay/neuter in Fentress County.....we sure need it!!!

💞🐾HAPPY ADOPTION SMOKEY & HIS MOM PORSHA🐾💞

Smokey came to us with a badly injured leg. Looked like someone intentionally tied something around his leg that required an amputation. It took several months for his recovery but that gave his new mom time to put fencing up to keep him safe while he is outside....we love happy endings 💞🐾

Sidenote: Porsha rescued Smokey & fostered him for awhile & fell in love with this sweet dog. Thank you Porsha ❤️

😥Animal Rescue Reality Check😥

With all the compassion fatigue warnings, we would like to remind all rescuers/shelters (including ourselves) that it is okay to say no, it’s okay to shut your phone off, it’s okay to make a bad decision, it’s okay to fall asleep, it’s okay to leave the litter box until morning.

For people needing a rescuer/shelter, please make it as easy as possible. Do not ask for a miracle, do not blame if something goes wrong, do not expect your rescuer/shelter to do everything for you. Make an effort to help! Offer to help transport, offer to foster, offer to donate money or goods.

Rescuers/shelters have a hard time saying no, it eats them alive. They have a heart and mind that won’t stop thinking about a dying animal. An animal they could help if only they had the energy or space, If only they had the time, if only they had the money, if only someone would help.

Trust us, if you are asking a rescuer/shelter for help, that rescuer/shelter has at least 10 other people asking along with you in a given day. Along with running to pick up, drop off, go to vet appointments, save lives, bottle feed, deal with feeding, cleaning and medicating and answering messages- we all have families and full time jobs as we are unpaid volunteers, yes, unpaid. We all have animals at home waiting to see us too.

We may sometimes choose what we do, but rescuers/volunteers are who we are.

PLEASE BE KIND TO YOUR RESCUER/SHELTER!!
