The June test at the NCW Chapter of North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association was one for the books. On Saturday, little Mabel (Red) ran her heart out and got herself a Prize 3 (pre-teen defiance at the water - girls, I tell ya.)

On Sunday, FIVE of the I Litter pups ran: Larry (Teal) Prize 1 | Eddie (Grey) Prize 1 | Frankie (Purple) Prize 3 - again, pre-teen gal water defiance! | Bobby (Pink) Prize 1 - oldest girl had to prove it’s just attitude | Butters (Old Gold) Prize 1

We are SO proud of these puppies and the handlers. It’s hard to believe it’s been just over a year since they were born!

Butters, Larry, Eddie, & Bobby got together yesterday for field and water work. Natural Ability test for 5 of the 9 I Litter pups pups coming up in a few weeks!

We had 5 (Bobby, Butters, Eddie, Larry, and Yeti) of the 9 I Litter pups out for some Natural Ability exposure — then we let them have a reunion!

Yesterday, we had 4 of the 9 I Litter puppies out in the field for some bird work and training. (And we can officially say… their noses WORK!) After individual pup and handler training, we let them all run together for fun and exercise. Hard to believe they are already 6 months old!

Only 13 weeks after having her first litter of puppies, Firebirds Gemme da Bird Cleo put on a clinic with Gary at the NCW NAVHDA Utility Test — scoring a 204 Prize 1 and securing a spot at the 2024 Invitational!

She even had a couple of her puppies (Eddie and Butters) around to cheer her on!

All 9 “I” Litter puppies went home this weekend! Well… 8 went home. 1 stayed home. Firebirds It’s A Girl Named Larry (call name: Larry) will be staying here and enjoying the good life as a bird dog.

All puppies went to the very best homes for them and we look forward to getting updates as they grow. 5 pups remain local and will be training and testing together for NAVHDA Natural Ability next year!
