Say hello 👋 to Duke! He is an 8 month old Dutch Shepherd who started our puppy program. This team is focused on their obedience foundation, we can see plenty of great things in store for these two.

This breed is known for being athletic and intelligent. As with many breeds specifically bred for purpose, if not given proper structure and training they can easily find themselves getting into trouble. Setting expectations and a consistent training regime early on is one crucial way to have a successful relationship and to enjoy the benefits of a well behaved pet.

How great is this Kansas weather this week?☀️

Rain or shine, Cheryl & Inferno are always putting in the work. Yesterday’s session was focused on some motion exercises. This means Inferno will be heeling with Cheryl, and will be put in a sit or down command while heeling.

This is one part of the routine used in a BH, then IGP obedience exercise. A BH is a preliminary title to an IGP title, it is referred to as an obedience and temperament test for a dog. Several components are evaluated in this, from heeling on & off leash, to basic obedience commands as well as realistic traffic scenarios that can occur in public.

Say hello to Nova! 👋

This beautiful 6 month old Cane Corso just started our puppy program. For those not familiar, this is a guardian breed. They are an intelligent, loyal, and versatile breed but with their large size (they often mature at over 100 lbs) can easily be too much for someone unprepared.

We are super fortunate her owners recognize how important early training and foundation work is, and can’t wait to see all their hard work pay off.

🚨 Important Update 🚨

Effective immediately, we are temporarily discontinuing boarding reservations. (Anyone with an already established reservation is still set, no worries there). We will make a new update once we have resumed offering this service, but we have exciting things in store with our current crew, stay tuned!

We are still offering training and behavior modification services. Please reach out with any questions or if you’d like to schedule a consult.

And don’t forget to enjoy our buddy Rocco the Bull Terrier having a blast with his 🎾.

🎄 Some of our favorite visitors are with us for Christmas weekend! Dusty the Poodle, Icky & Jet the German Shepherds, and Rocco the Bull Terrier. This Kansas weather has been interesting here lately, but today was a good day to explore and play outside. Stay dry tomorrow friends!

A successful trial weekend completed! Mike and Idunn, and Renee and Balto each earned their IGP1 titles with our local training club. 🏅

IGP is previously known as IPO and Schutzhund. It consists of three phases: tracking, obedience and protection work. It was originally developed to be a breed test for the German Shepherd. Each phase has 100 points, and you must have at least 70 points in each phase to pass. IGP helps represent the best quality of German Shepherds.

Bradley is a rescue who just finished their last session working on obedience. Coming into our program he was struggling with some reactivity towards other dogs. He’s made great improvements and his owner now has more confidence with working through these moments. It’s ok if your dog is not a fan of other dogs, but it’s also important to know how to work through these moments calmly. The goal is to set you and your dog up for success 💪🏻.

Idunn (Mike’s German Shepherd) provided a good distraction, and Bradley did great working through ignoring her.

It’s been a busy last few weeks, but the training never stops!

We will have a couple new dogs to feature within the next couple days, their owners have been working hard to reach their goals.

This handsome puppy is Otto! 🐾 He is boarding with us while his family finalizes their PCS (permanent change of station).

Otto and his family also finished their puppy program before this where we focus on building a successful foundation of basic obedience and manners.

With this insane Kansas heat (🥵) we are being careful with our outdoor time, but he was very alert while checking out the yard… in between some free sniffing time of course!

We have to brag on Cheryl & Inferno for a minute. Training is a journey, it’s never ending. You will always be brushing up on your skills, there will be set backs and when you’re committed, success.

Cheryl is one of those people who are in it for the long haul. She puts in the work, shows up, and has established an amazing working relationship with Inferno and provides him outlets.

When we are here for training, it’s not about just training dogs, we are here for you, the owner. Your relationship with your dog and your own goals on what you want to accomplish are what it’s about. 🐾

Can we talk about how cute boarding dogs Wedge & Goose the corgis are? 🥹 These two sweet boys are joining us for a week of boarding while their owners are out of town!

Did you know there are two types of corgis? These two boys are Pembroke Welsh Corgis, a breed made even more famous by Queen Elizabeth II who owned over 30 of them through out her life. Don’t let their short legs fool you either…these guys are a very hardy, intelligent breed bred for herding, and can be a very fun active companion.

Welcome to our current boarders! 🏡 Tobi is a gentle Maltese who enjoyed checking out the yard. He’s staying with us for a week and enjoys being held the most. Did you know Maltese are considered one of the oldest dog breeds? Their breed has existed for at least 29 centuries!

We also have Barney the distinguished older Malinios who is visiting with us for a few days as well! He’s a very easy going guy and enjoys his one on one time outside getting attention.

It’s been a full fun house this week! 🏡 (Tripod) Jet & Icky the shepherds go home tomorrow from a week of boarding.

Inferno the German Shepherd and Sophie the Belgian Malinios are here for board and training. Inferno has been continuing his obedience under distractions and is doing amazing! He enjoyed some playtime afterwards.

Sophie is working on some reactivity and is already making big strides of improvement. As with most things, dealing with reactivity will always involve management, we are happy to give her family the tools needed to keep making progress 💪🏻

🎆 Meet Dusty! 🎆

He is a 2 year old Poodle who is joining us for the 4th of July weekend. He’s enjoying exploring and is a very happy boy!

As people celebrate, we want to leave some reminders that can help your pets during this time.

🔵 Make sure your fences/gates are completely secured. More pets go missing during this time, things can happen quickly if they get startled or scared, and are able to take off. It’s also a good opportunity to make sure you have their identification/microchip information kept current.
🔴 Provide a safe space for them inside, keeping windows/doors closed to minimize any potential escapes. Making sure they are exercised (safe as possible in this heat!) and mentally stimulated can also assist in redirecting from the noise.
⚪️ Avoid access to fireworks, sparklers, glow sticks and other items that could cause harm to your pet.

🚨This handsome guy is Chapo! 🚨

Chapo is a German Shorthair Pointer, and he’s been joining us working on his recall skills. Like many dogs (especially in these warmer months 🔥!) he loves going swimming, and his owner recognized the importance and safety of a solid recall. In the short time he’s been working with us his reliability has improved so much, giving his owner the confidence needed to trust him with more off leash opportunity.

German Shorthair Pointers are a very versatile breed that require a lot of physical activity. Having these important obedience foundations will help him and his family enjoy their time together for years to come.

This 3 legged wonder dog is Jet! ✈️ He is here boarding and getting one on one time with Mike.

All of our dogs who board with us get this time out. We understand that boarding your family member can be stressful or scary, but here they are in a home environment and given individual enrichment and training opportunities. Each dogs stay is tailored to their needs.

🐾This beautiful girl is Koda, a 6 month old German Shepherd. Koda and her owner are with us to lock down a solid recall (one of the most important commands your dog should know!), as well as some reactivity towards other dogs and humans. Her owner was already doing a great job establishing a foundation of obedience and manners at home, and we are happy to be a part of their training journey. 🐾

Meet Otto!

Otto and his handler (who is a very dedicated 17 year old senior) are joining us for the next 6 weeks for foundational obedience work. During this time we will work on basic obedience (how to sit, down, and recall), along with learning house manners to establish him as a well rounded member of their family.

OG chase the silky terrier is back for a stay! He loves standing in the sunlight for a picture if you're fast enough or you will get a great picture of him running to you to get belly rubs.
