⚠️ GRAPHIC WARNING ⚠️ We know now what happened to Klaus at Katy Animal Control. I can’t say we are suprised.
Sweet Klaus was euthanized after being mauled by 3 other dogs when all 4 dogs were left unsupervised. THE ATTACK RAGED ON FOR 6 MINUTES AND 45 SECONDS before anyone noticed and stepped in. Klaus deserved better.
I was told by council member Robertson that everything was done to save him. That he’d seen the vet bills and it cost a ton of money. On the contrary, the only thing on the bill was sedation and euthanasia. And it was paid for by donations. See vet bill in comments. If nothing else, at least this one was sedated before euthanized- unlike any others at the Katy shelter. 
It’s common for pets to be left unattended together (total disregard for spay/neuter status and often overnight) it was something brought up repeatedly when pets kept leaving with injuries or dying.
At this point in time (April 22) there were 6 to 8 dogs in a shelter meant to hold nearly 30. Why are we not taking them out in their own runs? Or if they would like to play, 2 friendly pets together SUPERVISED!
Euthanasia is NOT the problem. Humane care is the problem. Even to this day, all pets are not being listed on the website. If that doesn’t bother you, it should.
Shelters are full all around us, it’s absolutely critical that Katy do better! As of now Katy and city council have ignored the problem, even told me to leave it alone.
