So I was asked how I came up with the name Leigh’Ward Winds aka Leigh ( pronounced Lee) .

Well there’s a very good reason and one that fits into my nautical name theme…

1st : Leagh’Ward Winds came from the Leeward Islands where pirates were protected against the Leeward Winds.

And the 2nd and main reason:

My vets name is Dr Leigh Rigler at Eastern Shore Hospital in Grandy, NC . Dr Rigler didnt question anything just asked “ can she travel? Bring her in now!” She put so much love in Sunny and knew that saving kittens was a priority too.

So this is how Baby Leigh got her name.

Good morning everyone ,

Thought I’d give yall an update on Baby Leigh and Mommy Sunny.

Leigh’Ward Winds was born on Wednesday, August 21st, 2024. She was born during an emergency C Section. Leigh was the only survivor out of 4 , we lost the other 3.

Leigh weigh 93g at time of birth and today shes a whopping 154g . And her eyes opened. Still not sure of her coat, I know its black but not sure if Solid Black or Black Smoke , leaning towards Black Smoke. She’s got the cutest chipmunk cheeks and she has her daddies ear brushes 🖤

Sunny, the mom , is also doing GREAT! She was tender the 1st couple days but everyday she’s returning to her regular routine of running and jumping. But she’s confused this time and no fault to her, id would be confused too. Sunny had always given 5/6 kittens and she spring into action being the best mommy to them all. But with Leigh she’s slow at the mother instincts. I have and will continue feeding Leigh for Sunny. Sunny is now starting to clean and she allows Leigh to suckle but then jumps up and leaves. She does sleep and cuddle her , I feel that thats better than nothing and Ill take it.

Ill will do a little photo shoot soon with updated pics .

What many dont know but this beautiful girl was born in my cattery Dec 11th, 2022. She was the 1st healthy kitten to be born and live since June 2022.

Soluna has always been my strong healthy momma, always giving me 5/6 kittens without complications. But like the previous litters, she produced 2 and 1 passed within hours. So everyday I’d wake up expecting to find a deceased baby but everyday I woke to find a beautiful girl staring back at me. Then the name Hope came, she gave me Hope.

As she grew her independence grew, she was not going to listen to momma cat or any of the others , she was on a mission to conquer the cattery.

Today she has the strongest personality and the BIGGEST heart . She has coloring of Soluna with silver shining through and sweetest poly toe beans . But her body is all Hatteras. Shes very tall and long with a tail as long as her.

I love this little girl with all thats in me💙💙
