Status update #4 converting 100 gallon reef tank to predominantly SPS coral tank:
Over the past months I have been working with Chris Gagnon, Owner SD Corals on converting my 100 gallon tank from lower end corals and leathers to SPS. I had already posted 3 updates on my progress. I'm happy to report my conversion continues to be very successful! All my Acroporas, Styloporas, Spathulatas, Milliporas, Rainbow Digi, Poccilliporas, Setosas and Montiporas show full polyp extension, color and growth. My monti's are even beginning to encrust the frag mounts they're on!
As part of my conversion plan, yesterday I changed my lighting from an Aquatic Life 4 bulb T5 to an ATI 6 bulb T5 fixture to improve coral growth and color. Already I can see a huge difference in my corals in regards to color, polyp extension, etc. and am excited to see how the tank progresses over the coming months! This new lighting combined with regular water/equipment maintenance along with increased/improved water flow gives me high hopes to be successful in my tank conversion!
In the coming weeks I'll also be adding more exotic zoas and rainbow acans. Thanks again to Chris Gagnon for all the help! I'll post again in March on my progress!

I attribute this to water management (regular 10% water changes, testing and proper dosing),
equipment management (regular filter sock changes, 100% cleaning of protein skimmer, carbon and phosphate canister cleanings and new media, refugium cleaning ) and improved water flow by relocating my 4 wave makers.
In January I plan on improving my lighting from my current Aquatic Life 4 bulb T5 to an ATI 4 bulb T5 fixture experimenting with different bulb configurations to improve coral growth and color. I'll also be adding more exotic zoas and rainbow acans. Thanks again to Chris Gagnon for all the help! I'll post again in February on my progress!
Stage 2 SPS Reef Tank Conversion. Chris Gagnon owner SD Corals has really helped me get to this point. Live rock restacked for better flow and live rock bridges made to locate SPS's, monti's, etc higher up in tank. Next step to glue most of corals down, add more SPS frags, higher end zoas and rainbow acans. Thanks SD Corals!
Converting my 100 gallon saltwater reef tank to higher end SPS corals....removed all leathers I had previously. This is step 1...so far so good. Thanks to Chris and Meghan at SD Corals for helping me!!
