NW3 Skills & Strategies Workshop with Wendy Krehbiel.
Heading to or working on NW3? This can be one of the most challenging levels of competition. The NW3 Skills Workshops will take a look at a variety of skills needed to compete and succeed at this trial level. Getting extra input and ideas can be critical for you and your dog. Wendy will set up searches, odor problems and situations that you can expect to see at the NW3 level. She will also give you input and suggestions for your team. The half-day workshop will be run like an extended class with searches for the demo teams and observation learning time for the auditors.

This two-day workshop will provide valuable information about how we influence the search with our body movements: direction, pathways, speed, and body orientation. We know that some of you have a choice from many educational events. And it can be a tough decision about how to use your financial and time resources. For this event, we highly recommend that all who are interested in scent work attend whether or not they work a dog. Dana and Sue have some key concepts and ideas to share that will be demonstrated with the working teams with a focus on the handler’s part of the equation. It is not at all necessary to work with a dog in person to have a great learning experience. One of the best educational tools in scent work is watching other teams demonstrate and practice concepts and ideas. And those that audit both days and don’t work a dog, have the option to submit a video of a search to Sue Sternberg. Sections of the video may be used during the workshop for Sue to analyze and share with the group.
