First full day home. Vet said to get them outside if the weather stayed decent. He only got about 10 minutes of outside time. This c**t is a mamas boy for sure!

He’s home! A few more days of antibiotics and the vet said to let him get outside when the weather is nice.

Update on the C**t. His white blood cells have come up to 3.5 and as of yesterday afternoon he has not received any fluids or extra help. Him and mama will be coming home tomorrow evening. I don’t have any current photos but when they are home and settled, I’ll get new pics.

Ten Ls Just Enough Buff is an AMHA/AMHR, 33”, Silver Smokey black, 14 year old stallion. He is a National Top 5 and World Top 7 and has many grands under his belt. He has not been trained to drive but was started many years ago and was easy and level headed. This stallion is a gem and has manners. Can lead him through a herd of mares and he won’t go ballistic. Hand and pasture breeds and is wonderful to his mares. He has many foals on the ground in all sorts of colors and have some currently showing in halter and driving. You can spray him with fly spray, groom and pick his feet out in the pasture without tying him. He never got thick or cresty with age and is just as fit and refined now as when he was a 3 year old. Buff is current on worming, hoof care, coggins, and vaccinations til end of February. He is great for the vet and the farrier, even with mares around. When the halter goes on, he knows its work time and no funny business. My young nieces mess with him and he is wonderful around other animals. Constantly has chickens and goats around his feet. He has been housed with c**ts and was wonderful with them. I just can’t say enough about him and I promise you won’t be disappointed with him. I’m sad to let him go but a current vet hospitalization for one of my horses has finalized the decision. I do have a hauler who is reasonable. You would be surprised so please if you need transport but think it will break the bank, let me get a quote for you. Can also be delivered to nationals in September for $400. Talk to your spouse and consider transport before you inquire as he is $4000. Buff is located in Lake Pleasant, NY.

The c**t is doing well today. His IGg levels came up from 120 to 390, 400 being a comfortable range. His white blood cell count did drop a little from 3.2 to 2.8 but the vet said that can be expected. He wa ya him around 5 before he is comfortable enough to send him home. He said he’s playing and nursing but still getting a little help from IV fluids. Tomorrow they will redo bloodwork in hopes to see those white blood cell counts come up.

Vet called tonight to tell me the c**ts bloodwork came back as he didn’t not get any passive transfer of antibodies. He’s trying to nurse but is tired and weak so feeding tube is going back in and he is getting another plasma transfer tonight. I’m sad about this but he has a chance with the supportive care he is receiving. This also means another big vet bill, so will be listing another horse for sale. It’s the price to pay to try to save a life.

Yesterday mid morning, McCarthys Little Porsche gave birth to what looks to be a Perlino pinto c**t, however he might be Smokey cream but I don’t think so. Sires by Ten Ls Just Enough Buff. Everything went great, except he could not latch on to nurse. We tried all day with no luck. Porsche was not even full and her teats were so small, he just could not get em. So at 4:30pm we took a road trip to the Equine Clinic of Saratoga to see our good buddy Dr Axel Sondhof. He is the one who saved our sweet little Jacoba. He gave him some intravenous fluids as he was very dehydrated, put a feeding tube in and milked the mare so we could get colostrum in him, and gave him a plasma transfusion. We left them there last night as he needed to be tube fed every half hour and he still hasn’t figured out nursing. As of this morning I am being told he made good attempts and potentially found the teat, but only stayed on a few seconds. So maybe they will come home tonight. Waiting for them to draw blood and check his IGg levels. Hoping he got a good transfer of antibodies but he did go potentially 10 hours with hardly any colostrum. Will keep everyone posted. Thanks to my good friends Kathy and Mark for letting us steal your trailer, and big shout out to Koren and Corey Luchetta for letting me relentlessly message you about this little guy and trying to get him to nurse. This was a first for me and sometimes it takes bugging your trainers to keep you sane! Haha

Some life events have forced me to cut back my herd in half. Today we said good bye to Oak Parks La Ti Da, whom is headed to Indiana to be a show horse again! We also sent COH Midnite Psyched to a good friend of mine. This little mare has been through hell most of her life and will be in a home where she doesn’t have to be handled and forced to be uncomfortable. She just doesn’t want interaction with people. She can live out her life being admired from afar, except for hoof trims and routine vet stuff. I’ll miss these two but they have it made now.

Had a really fun day at Schagticoke fair grounds for a horse show. Koren talked me into showing Gidget. Went well! Thanks to Koren and Corey Luchetta for showing me how to show her, and Elisha for being my photographer and biggest fan!

Fireworks…..this is my group of mates and babies grouping up and pacing because of fireworks. I get that people want to shoot them off and that’s fine. Shooting them off for hours and throwing in super loud ones is horse s**t and I am not amused. Mind you this is a neighbor right across the street so I can see them as well, which means my horses can too.

I wanted to give an update on Jacoba’s eye. So many people ask how it’s doing. It’s completely healed but she can’t see distance through it. So she can’t really see me walking up to the barn, but she can make out movement near by. Here is a photo. That bluish scar blocks out some of her vision. The black canter is where the laceration of the cornea was. Just nice tho that she has an eyeball in there!

Dr Alex came today from River Valley Vets, to do a check up on Dream. She hasn’t been well at all and we have concluded the sweet baby has ulcers. She also had her teeth checked and needs some points filed off. Two months of meds but she is on the road to recovery. Thanks Dr Alex!
