Tagging goats is not for the faint of heart! It is unpleasant most of the time. They say to tag them when they are first born and they aren’t joking because the bigger they are the harder to tag and the more chance of injury. This girl was so good and did way better than most of the adults we inherited. Ok now let’s talk about life for a second. This isn’t political even though everything and everyone is going there lately, we are not. This little girl is just so loved. She is being tagged but still gets pet and snuggled and good treats while getting her tag. When we first got the farm everyone from family to friends said, “Oh, you are going to sell the goats? Well then don’t name them. Your kids will be so sad when they are gone.” Ok so truth here. That just isn’t the case on our farm. Just a couple of days after this picture was taken one of our older momma goats passed away. She saw very sick. My kids were sad but most importantly they saw how much pain she was in and they wanted the pain to go away. We did all we could to make her better but in the end she just couldn’t hold out. Instead of breaking down they said they were so glad she was out of pain. We love our farm and love our animals and we understand the circle of life so much more since living out here. We spend more time together and appreciate each other more. We have more patience than we did before and share our love because we know tomorrow they could be gone, human or beast. So, Lightning Bolt we will miss you and are so grateful for the joy we had owning you.

We have been working on a new pasture fence for the last 2 months. It’s not close to being ready and the boys need to get out of the same pasture as the girls so Farmer Joe is creating a temporary fence area and container barn for the goats until we are done with the new pasture. If you had come to me as a city girl and said, “How long do you think it will take to build a new fence?” I would have naively said “no more than a couple weeks right?” I tried to pound in a stake and it was embarrassing. This hunky farmer pounds in 3 stakes to my 1/2 stake. 😍🤦🏼‍♀️😂 He’s a hard worker and we are grateful for him and all the nasty blisters he willing works with to keep us going.

Hey friends and family! Our homestead is up and running and we are about ready to sell our first Broiler chickens! Take a look at our site and let us know what you think :) We'll be doing egg deliveries in Vegas soon along with some other products like fresh honey etc. Thanks for all the support!
