When Eva arrived at the care of Paws Humane, their rescue team quickly found Eva had an old fracture in her elbow and was unable to use her affected leg. To relieve her pain she required amputation. The Bow Wow Buddies Foundation was able to provide a medical grant for Eva’s medical care and we are so happy to see she’s healed up well and continues to be her happy and loving self. 💛

Our new foster dog is Pixie!!! This incredibly sweet and small girl (she is only 49 pounds), came from an illegal breeding operation. She has had a very rough start in life. Despite all this, Pixie is as sweet as can be. She gets along with all big dogs and small dogs and she loves car rides. And like most pitties, she absolutely loves human kids and her toys!! We are fostering Pixie on behalf of the The Animal Foundation. Are you looking to adopt a medium-sized sweet girl as a loving member of your family? There *is* some truth to the belief that dogs are a good judge of character. Research has shown through their keen sense of smell and skilled read on human body language and cues, dogs will sometimes use that information to form an opinion of a person. A dog's sense of smell is 1000 times stronger than humans. These heightened senses allow dogs to smell the pheromones that evoke the human mood which also helps dogs pick up good and bad behaviors of a human.

Yesterday it was 111 degrees. Supposed to be near, or above 110 for the next 7 days. Very dangerous for our fur babies. Our Camp owner was asked by News 3 on Tuesday to describe what we do here at Camp to help protect our sweet campers from the extreme heat and some tips you can use at home to keep them safe at this time of year. All of our indoor playards and boarding areas are fully air conditioned at 72 degrees 24/7 and we have doubled the size of our Loading-Zone at the entrance to Camp so that multiple vehicles can load/unload their pups directly onto our covered and shaded sidewalk instead of having to walk across the asphalt parking lot! Those are just a few of the many things we do at Camp to protect our Pack from the heat.

Even after enduring a traumatic injury inflicted by her previous owner, Esme became an inspiration to the team at the Foothills Animal Shelter as she never lost her sweet spirit. A representative at the shelter reported that “the medical treatment that Esme received truly saved her life after she was stabbed. Without the treatment, it is very unlikely Esme would have been able to fully recover but now she is running, playing, and loving like any other dog”. In even more wonderful news, Esme has since been adopted into a new, loving home! Nothing is more impressive than a dog’s strength and the love of the families who spring into action for pups in need! Roy was left abandoned on the side of the road with many injuries. Luckily, a compassionate family found him and immediately sought out care.
