Skip!
Skip had a quick snap point. The bird went up about a second later and I sent 3 Hail Marys as I was struggling to maintain balance. My prayers 🙏🏽 were answered as he came back with the bird in short fashion!
Skip running
He really adjusted well and started increasing his range even further to hunt for me

Happy 1sr birthday to Dawson Lake Bretons Ulysses(TANK)

Emma and Sid
Getting some Saturday morning exercise!
Emma
Emma has a very high prey drive and with the water being so warm it didn’t take much for her to get in the water.
She’s gonna need to work on her swimming ability juuust a bit though lol 😁 kudos to her, and her first time retrieving in the water!
PSA !!🚨 your dog can overheat swimming in warm water so it’s best to keep sessions short in very hot conditions.
As a dog dad of 4, and father to 2 awesome kids! Today is my favorite holiday 😃
There’s nothing more I love than being a father and watching my dogs and kids grow and me being there to teach them all how to navigate life whether it’s in the field or at home!
Happy Father’s Day everyone!🎉 Enjoy your day ☀️
Sadie
I didn’t know if I’d be able to make this post one day, but I’m excited to say I can.
Some time ago a gsp named Sadie came into the training facility. Sadie unfortunately was gun shy. Over the course of a few months of her not responding to anything we finally found something she could get excited about! That so happened to be a chukar! 🕊️Something about that bird made her jump for joy.
The last few weeks we finally got her gun conditioned and it didn’t matter what caliber or gauge we used it wasn’t a problem anymore😃
The next challenge was to get her pointing birds and to say the least, and coupled with some negative association she had from before her time with us. We knew it was gonna take sometime to get her comfortable, and it sure did! Using our trusty chukars as a bait bird, paired with pigeons and launchers me Clint and Bud started to correct those associations! ✅
Today was the day though that it finally happened where all the stars ✨ aligned and Sadie said I’m ready to be a hunting dog again!
The video I captured isn’t super great as I was on my own today but it shows what months of dedication to a dog can achieve when others might have given up! It may not seem like much but this just made my weekend!!! Enjoy the short video. 😁
Facebook never lets me upload videos and photos so I’ll comment the photo with a closeup.
Last Thursday Tank was starting to creep and wanting to take steps and Clint recommended getting the place board out. So yesterday we implemented it!
For this drill I walk him up and as soon as his front paws get a step or two on the place board I whoa him and continue to walk.
The first few times he wanted to take a few steps so I’d walk back pick him up place him down tell him whoa the proceed to walk away while making eye contact. After a few of those corrections it clicked that when he stood on the board he was not to move. The board is a physical tool to separate his feet from the grass and give him something to build an association with the word whoa in the field.
After a few birds and corrections this was the end result in one training session. 😁 we did the drill again this morning and there wasn’t one hiccup! Tank remembered! 🧠
