Bot Fly Prevention!

Apply baby oil to the inside of your horse’s legs. This prevents the bot fly eggs from sticking to the hair. It also softens existing eggs making it easy to wipe them off.

Make sure you deworm your horse after the first frost with a dewormer that targets bot fly larva. Bot flies do not show up on f***l tests. So even if your horse has a negative f***l, he could have bots!

*** Edit - the two dewormers that target bot flies are Ivermectin and Moxidectin. I always give Quest Plus (Moxidectin and Praziquantel) after the first frost to target Bots and Tapeworms.***
