Sad day here on the farm. My 22 year old draft horse went to her new home today. The rest of the alpacas went to their new home yesterday. Pretty lonely out in the pastures here. That leaves us with just 2 paso finos, and 2 miniature horses....along with the rabbits, chickens, and ducks.

Spending the day making black walnut dye, while washing my white alpaca fleece (thank you, Blanco!) Also studying the flax process and energy usage, impact on the earth...for my Life-cycle project that is due on Wednesday.

spent the day washing alpaca fleece, and a few small bags of wool locks. Working on some neck and leg fleece from the beautiful girl that is on my cover photo, while I have some Sumac berries boiling down into dye. Also in between, I am carding more of the indigo dyed alpaca fleece into beautiful blue sparkly bats...shot through with white alpaca. Absolutely beautiful. Can't wait to felt it into a vest or hat.

Gathered up the goldenrod stragglers that were blossoming in the field today. Boiled them up and have 4 gallons of natural dye to experiment with my alpaca fiber.
