We appreciate donations for our fund raising thrift shop, but we can do without these kinds of donations. We get a lot of peoples trash donated, and bags of clothes that were a bed and cat box for cats. We have to throw all this away, filling up our dumpster, and that is an other big bill we have to pay. Since we put locks on our dumpster, we r getting more trash donated, guess our dumpster is no longer available for peoples trash. Please folks, have common sense, if u want to live in trash and filth, thats your business. But we dont live that way, and we dont put it in our shop. More than once we have gag trying to deal with trash.
We do a hard job, all to benefit pets, and help folks be able to afford clothes and things. Please do your part in this community effort and take care of your own trash.

Montana Pittie Project

Attention MMP Friends ~

After a heartfelt discussion with the MPP Directors (volunteers) we sadly need to announce we are closed to intake until further notice. 💔🐾

You see, we are spread too thin right now. The crisis that is currently happening in Texas (our main pulling area) has gotten to such a degree it’s overwhelming all rescues and shelters including us. Too few pittie rescues out there. Most rescues won’t even take them. 💔

Our rescue consists of 6 full-time working women and what I mean by that is we have full time jobs outside of this rescue. We had no idea that this crazy thing we wanted to do in our “spare” time would make us so insanely busy! We all have family, jobs, husbands, grandchildren, dogs, horses that we would love to spend a little more time with. Katrina is also going to have a baby this summer and we don’t want her to stress out and to be honest, when the time comes, we want to have the time to celebrate with her.

Don’t get me wrong! We are not going anywhere and plan to save many many more pitties in the very near future, but we need to reduce the pack to a reasonable 18-30 precious souls to keep our heads above water and our families happy. We are so close to total burnout and do not want to extinguish that flame.

We currently have almost 80 in our care. What that means is we need to buy dog food for those 80 souls - at over $50/bag. (4,000./mo) We also take care of all vetting which, for a healthy dog, could be over $400 for vaccinations, worming and preventatives. And of course, you know where our hearts are…….. with the medical ones. So there’s another couple thousand for about 20 of our dogs and of course there’s always transport which adds about $3300 each month including this weekend which will bring 13 house hippos to their new homes in Montana. The volume of dogs we need to support has us continually scrambling to find the funds so we beg and sell swag which is another source of time stealing tasks. We also communicate with our fosters and adopters daily. So in short, we need to be true to the pups we currently have under our care and the sanity of our directors to keep our rescue strong.

We also desperately need to reduce the herd… or pack. Adoptions are slow in the northern states for weather reasons. Slow adoptions means more dogs get stuck in foster in Texas which is creating a backup of dogs needing to head north. The ones that do need a little extra time to adjust to their new homes when not being able to take a long walk or short hike. It’s just tooooooo cold here. Heck…. Even my seasoned fur-kids are not thrilled with the thought they have to potty outside with its below zero here so the new Texas transplants really need time to adjust to their new home which takes longer in the winter months.

So from here we are going to spread the word about the amazing pups we have in stock waiting for new homes. We have every size and flavor! Including ~ young, old, blue, brindle, white, tan, red, short, tall, fat, skinny, active, lazy, and cat friendly! To help us help more we need more adoptions! Our fosters are FULL! Can you share? Spread the word?
