Soft Paws are a great way to help prevent scratching and tearing while also looking fabulous! They are a great alternative to declawing. Here’s to some “purr”fect kitty claws! 💙💚

Red the Rabbit! Red is a Rex rabbit who recently got spayed with us, she is the sweetest girl. It is always a good idea to get your female rabbits spayed to help prevent uterine adenocarcinomas. Plus, they can even get cute recovery suits to wear afterwards 😉

A couple weeks ago Dr. Malter had the privilege to meet Miss Harlow. Harlow was brought to Lincoln City by a local rescue. Harlow is a 6 year old shepherd mix that is looking for a forever home!

During her exam, Harlow was the most sweet girl wanting cuddles and all the attention Dr. Malter could give her. She is spayed, up to date on all her vaccines, and microchipped. Harlow would love a friend to play with or she is fine being by herself and being your best companion. She is always up for car rides and would do best with somewhere with a fenced yard.

If you are interested in finding out more about Harlow, please contact the clinic and ask for Kim.

Good Monday morning! We wanted to provide an update on sweet Arnold. The doctors made the decision that it was in his best interest to remove his eye as it was permanently damaged after his accident. While under anesthesia he had two teeth removed that were also damaged when he was hit by the car.

That being said, he is now ready for his forever home with no further need for any surgeries or procedures long term. Please help us get the word out so that he can find a loving home. If you or anyone you know would like to adopt Arnold, please call the clinic at 541.994.2929 and ask for Kim.

Snowflake's Angel Fund For Senior Cats has been created in memory of one of our beloved feline patients Snowflake, who had her fair share of health issues, but bore them with grace and plenty of zest for life. Even through the toughest times, her devoted family fought for her and strived to make sure she was comfortable and happy. They have generously set up Snowflake's Angel Fund to help other senior cats receive the medical care that they need.

The goal of the Snowflake's Fund is to allow us to provide necessary care for our senior feline patients, so they can live longer, healthier lives and spend as much time as possible with their loving families. We are so endlessly grateful to Snowflake's parents for honoring their beautiful girl in an equally beautiful way, and know that her spirit will live on in the cats this fund helps.

If you would like more information on Snowflake's Fund or would like to donate to the fund to help us help more cats, please feel free to stop by the clinic, email us at [email protected], or call us at (541) 994-2929.

We are sad to report that a staff member today (4/20/24) around 8:30am found a cat on the side of the road that likely passed away from car trauma. Appearance is a young (>1yr old) pure black female cat, healthy body weight, no collar or microchip found. The kitty was found on the side of Hwy 101 at the junction of SW 16th street across from the Tire shop. If you think this might be your kitty, please reach out to the clinic at (541)-994-2929. We do have a photo of this kitty as well for future identification.

Arnold update!
This sweet boy is still looking for his forever home. Arnold is doing very well at his foster home but needs to find his forever family as soon as possible. He is getting along well with dogs, but will likely do best being an only cat. Due to his injuries, Arnold has some mild nerve damage in his face and will need some additional care going forward, such as a dental and potentially some longer term medication. He is eating great and feeling great, and is an otherwise very healthy young cat. If you are interested or know anyone who might be wanting to adopt this loving boy, please contact the clinic!

Sir Arnold Arthur Biscuit update!

Yesterday Arnold got his feeding tube removed. His foster mom was very happy to report that sweet Arnold is recovering fantastically! He now is eating by himself and is doing well at his foster home. Arnold has been very curious and wanting to explore.

It is time for Arnold to find his forever home! Since Arnold is still in recovery, he will need frequent attention. He will need more medical treatments/visit in the future like a dental procedure and also may have long term nasal/respiratory issues. He must be an only cat, although he has been getting along with some dogs.

If you are interested in adopting, please contact the clinic. We are so happy to see his progress and recovery.

We know there have been many requests for an update regarding sweet Arnold. Last Monday, 3/18, he was seen by the wonderful team at Carlson College of Veterinary Medicine - Oregon State University for imaging and further assessment of his injuries. Prior to that visit, we placed a feeding tube in clinic to help manage his dietary needs since he can't eat like normal.

While he does have many fractures in his head, it was determined that none of these fractures will require additional surgery at this time! He may need additional dental surgery in the future because his jaw does not align properly because of the trauma but this can be managed in clinic.

We are so thankful for the ongoing support, both through financial contributions and words of encouragement for this special boy. Now that we are sure he is stable and can recover, we are thrilled to report that Arnold has recently moved to a foster home where he is being tube fed regularly and living the life of luxury. His foster parents report he is as loving as ever and has recently started eating some soft food on his own!

We will continue to keep you updated and appreciate all the kind messages we have received. If you would like to contribute to his ongoing care, please call the clinic directly at 541.994.2929. There has been a fund set up internally at Oceanlake Veterinary Clinic to help cover some medical costs.

We’re sorry for the inconvenience, our internet and phones are currently down. If you need to get ahold of us urgently, please come into the clinic. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Arnold (also known as "Biscuit" for making the best biscuits in Lincoln County) is currently back at Oceanlake Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Merriam is working hard to care for him internally and is currently trying to arrange for him to have specialized dental surgery. If you would like to contribute to his care please call the clinic at 541.994.2929. Thank you also to Lincoln County Animal Shelter for a shared effort to get this boy the care he needs! It truly takes a village and we appreciate our community and the opportunity to care for those in need.

Many of you are already familiar with Arnold and his story. Arnold was found severely injured and brought to Oceanlake Veterinary Clinic earlier this week. The team at Oceanlake stabilized Arnold and managed his pain while an owner was sought. Unfortunately, an owner never came forward for Arnold, so he came to LCAS. Due to the severity of his injuries, Arnold requires around the clock care and will need extensive surgery to repair his injuries. Although we have a great foster network and a robust Medical Trust Fund, it was clear that Arnold needs more than we can provide.

Have no fear! Our amazing friends at Oceanlake have stepped up and will be taking on ownership of Arnold as soon as his stray time is up.

We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone at Oceanlake, especially Drs Malter and Merriam for going above and beyond for this very special guy!

If you would like to contribute to the considerable costs of Arnold's ongoing care, please contact Oceanlake Veterinary Clinic.

Today a gray, male neutered young (ish) cat was brought into the clinic by the police. He was likely hit by a car and has significant facial trauma. He is currently stable and we are trying to find his family.

He has no microchip, is very friendly, and is well fed. He was located under a bush on the corner of 51st and Logan Road. Please call the clinic at 541.994.2929 if you have any information or recognize this kitty. If he is still stable and his owner is not found, he will be transported to the Lincoln County Animal Shelter tomorrow for further assessment.

Thank you for your help!
