Caribou in Velvet just finished up this morning. My first time working on this species. They are such a beautiful animal with incredibly thick soft fur. This caribou was taken on a honeymoon hunt in Alaska.

Life has thrown me some curve balls, and with that I'm currently about 3 months behind schedule. I apologize for the delay. I have been working evenings and weekends to get caught back up. I appreciate everyone's patience and understanding.
Moving forward with the 2024 hunting seasons, I will not be accepting any new clients. I didn't make this decision easily. My shop is always open to returning clients. It is because of you I am where I am today, and I look forward to seeing you all again. By doing this I plan to get caught back up to a turn around of 12 months or less. I know most of you are anxious to get your trophy. I will be honoring any reservations that have currently been made. Thank you all for your support. Shoot straight and good luck to you ALL!

This past weekend was the Maine association of Taxidermist annual convention. I decided to whip something together last min. I had come up with the idea months prior. I wanted to combine my boyfriend's art with mine to create something different and unique.
I sacrificed a few Saturdays And had to improvise a lot for materials. For putting it together last min and rushing, I was pleasantly surprised to take second place in the masters division. This was my first year competing in masters. Arno took first place for his chainsaw carving. If you would like to see more of his work visit https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100085187795618&mibextid=ZbWKwL
This year was a pretty special year for me, I got to see my mentor be inducted into the taxidermy hall of fame. Very well deserved. I am so grateful for his friendship and guidance.
The raccoons came from a wildlife rehab and unfortunately didn't make it.

A few gray foxes mounted up over the last few days. I've been excited to get working on this piece. Jason provided the driftwood and together we came up with a cool idea to display them together.
What's really neat about these foxes, not only were they road kill, but one is a normal gray fox and the other is called what is known as a Samson fox.
A Samson fox has a recessive genetic mutation ( some claim it's caused from inbreeding). Samson's lack guard hair, giving them a more woolly appearance.
This one I'll be sad to see go home

One of the mule deer that went home a while ago. The client had the antlers for years and decided he wanted to get them mounted. I was able to find replacement capes for them and bring them back to life. I am currently working on small mammals from early 2023 and will be starting on some bears. With this up coming year I will be taking in less work, I will always cater to returning clients first. I will not be accepting any dry tans this year.

This piece I did a few years ago went to its new home at the International Cryptozoology Museum where it will get to be enjoyed by many. I'm pretty excited to have one of my pieces displayed in a museum.

Only 15 days until the odd and unusual expo. I will be teaching a squirrel workshop. Tickets will only be sold for 5 more days, so I can make sure everyone has the supplies needed for this class. If you are interested in learning taxidermy this will be a great starter class. You will be mounting a fox squirrel and can take it home. Purchase of ticket for the class includes free entry into the expo, lots of vendors will be there. It's a great expo. Check out the link below to purchase tickets. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/maines-odd-and-unusual-show-may-25th-and-26th-tickets-733582122877

A bunch of antlers got scored today. This is the first moose I've taken in that made MASTC. I only take in a handful of moose a year, because of limited space. This moose scored 177 7/8. Congratulations to Tom

Please don't skin your deer out like this. This is one of the mounts that take longer than anticipated. If you are unsure please look up a YouTube video or a diagram on how to properly skin a deer for taxidermy. This easily could have been avoided saving me time and you money.

Friday's are my paint days. 7 deer will be getting finished up today and phone calls to pick up will be made. I'm about halfway through the 2022 deer, my goal is to have the rest done in the next few months. The wait is almost over 😃
