The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office congratulates our newly trained K9s and K9 handlers on completing the Basic K-9 Handling Course. The 8-week course involved intense training, which equipped the dogs with skills including searching buildings and detecting illegal narcotics. The new members of the K-9 Unit will assist with Jail Operations and Field Operations. Thank you for your service to Gwinnett County!

K9 Joker update 🙏🏼

💙 BCSO SAYS THANK YOU 💙

Today, we had a special visit from BCSO Deputy Eduardo Choate and K9 Joker. They were able to meet Sarah Wright, a Bradley County citizen and local vet hospital employee, who personally created a GoFund me to collect donations towards K9 Jokers Medical Bills and aftercare purposes. Thank you to our community and individuals from across the United States for coming together in support of Joker. Because of your generosity, over $6,000 was raised and it will go directly towards this cause. Thank you Sarah for your kindness and support from the very beginning. We appreciate you!

Update on K9 Joker as of October 18, 2021: Joker has to continue with his feeding tube for at least 5 more weeks. He will then be reevaluated and considered for jaw reconstructive surgery. Joker has had a rough few days, but today he was in high spirits and full of energy on the way to his vet appointment. He was very excited to visit his work family 🐾💙🚓 Please continue praying for K9 Joker and The Choate family!

K9 Joker update….. 🙏🏼

UPDATE ON K9 JOKER AS OF SEPTEMBER 28, 2021:

Today, K9 Joker successfully underwent an MRI & CT Scan.

Due to the test results and a second opinion, it has been determined that the best option will be to send K9 Joker home with a feeding tube, allow him to heal for 5-12 weeks, and reevaluate him afterwards to see if he is a viable candidate for jaw reconstructive surgery.

He will be released from the vet tomorrow and is very excited to be going home with his family.

Please continue to keep K9 Joker & The Choate Family in your prayers!

K9 Joker update

UPDATE ON K9 JOKER AS OF SEPTEMBER 23, 2021:

K9 Joker is still being treated at an emergency animal hospital in Chattanooga and his condition at this time is very serious.

It was stated in K9 Jokers Medical Summary “He is an extremely strong patient who is being incredibly tolerant with his doctors and nurses”.

Thank you for your continued prayers for Deputy Eduardo Choate, K9 Joker, and their family.

We appreciate your support and will continue to keep you updated as much as possible 💙🙏🏽

The Bradley County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank everyone for their kind messages during this time.

K9 Joker is currently out of surgery and in semi-stable condition. He will continue to be monitored over the next 24 crucial hours.

It is with a heavy heart that we share K9 Joker was shot while in the line of duty earlier this morning and is undergoing surgery due to his life threatening injuries.

K9 Joker has been in service for 5 years and is a cherished, loyal, and devoted BCSO family member.

We are thankful that his handler was unharmed during the incident and are hoping the surgery will be sucesssful.

Joker is truly our hero 🖤💙🐾

Why we ask you to Move Over - This morning, TFC Wright (Post 40-Albany) was working in an off-duty capacity on Interstate 75 in Tift County. TFC Wright’s vehicle was struck from the rear by a tractor-trailer that failed to move over, forcing TFC Wright’s vehicle to strike the guardrail. Luckily he only received minor injuries. Please Move Over for First Responders!

Cpl. Cotton and Cpl. Armo 🐾🚓

This is Corporal Cotton and Corporal K9 Amor! They are over the K9 Unit and have been partners for 4 years. K9 Amor is highly trained and proficient in Narcotics and Patrolling. Corporal Cotton recently earned his Advanced Trainers Certification in Narcotics, Explosives, and Patrol. Together, they assist GCSO Uniform Warrants and respond to any dispatched calls. They also assist any neighboring agencies that may need an extra hand or paw.
