Was pretty confident the red female that birthed last weeks baby still had a baby/slug inside. She was a bit lethargic yesterday, so I mildly palpated a small mass toward her vent. I didn't want to force anything in case it was a viable baby. Glad she dropped this stillborn because it was already rancid. She probably wouldn't have survived much longer 👍

Snapped some pics recently for the upcoming book. Here's a good example of the general head shape difference between cinctus and wheeleri. Cinctus tend to have a more elongate, pointed snout compared to the more compressed, rounded snout of wheeleri. In captivity, certain traits can become exaggerated or diluted due to line-breeding and limited genetic diversity, but the head shape distinction was one characteristic that was quite prominent in the majority of adult banded knob-tailed geckos I observed in the wild 🤙
