*psst, those cool people are you 😉💙* It can be so hard as a small business to be recognized and chosen by consumers. A lot of thought, careful planning, and science has gone into my enrichment line. Since I’m a professional trainer, all my toys aren’t designed to make me money, rather, provide mental stimulation for your bird. Some items I barely break even on in order to keep the price down and allow parrots to enjoy the mental stimulation. I provide high quality, handmade in the USA parrot toys for parrots of all sizes! I have hanging enrichment, foot toy enrichment, auditory enrichment, and even preening toys for pluckers. Go ahead, check it out, you’re bound to find something you like!
My little angle JoJo next to my crack head Alfie. JoJo just happily sits and lightly swings. Alfie starts the conversation like “watch this” and goes about it. This also shows the difference in energy levels between the two species. I cringe so hard when someone says “I’m thinking about getting an amazon, a macaw, or a cockatoo” or some other combination of completely opposite types of birds. This is likely coming from a place of looks or what they’ve seen online and not actual correct research on the species. But moving away from looks or internet content, you need to be sure the species you’re getting is right for you energy wise, needs, financially, and personality. Of course, this can’t be a generalized post without stating that all birds are individuals. My moluccan who passed before Alfie of cancer never screamed. Alfie screams often. JoJo is pretty low key energy wise, while Munchkin has a lot more energy (still not crazy since amazons are the lazier species). These birds also require different social needs. Alfie wants to be on you and getting 100% of your attention (hence his displays on the boing). All of my amazons love hanging out with me, but are equally as happy hanging out on a tree in the same room being independent, since they’re known for that. Each species comes with their own behaviors and personalities that you need to be sure that you complete understand to be sure it’s the right fit. Remember, most articles you read online about species are not true for many reasons. It’s best to speak to as many people with the species as possible (not just one) and volunteer at a rescue to be sure your newest addition is right for you!
Chaos… destruction… all the time. It takes a really special person with a large amount of true insanity to love and care for a cockatoo appropriately. Though this video is fun, I promise, it’s not all the time with a cockatoo. Make sure you have a lot of experience with cockatoos before getting one, as well as having a mentor to help you!
Rosie… the rotten little girl! Green cheeks are such great little friends for those who are experienced and knowledgeable on parrots. Conures have very similar personalities to macaws. If you’re wanting a macaw, get a conure instead! When I have flocked birds in aviaries previously in my career, we would do all sized conures up to mini macaws in the same aviary. It all depends on the individual birds, aviary size, and aviary setup for success of course. Little birds, underrated for sure!! So much personality in such a little birb
Honey, I’m always working to pay for all this seed! When you have 11 special needs birds, you need to make them bird toys! We make handmade parrot enrichment toys with foraging and behavioral modification in mind. This toy line is designed by a professional behavioralist and trainer in order to support training and behavioral modification plans and help change undesirable behaviors! Your birds safety is our top priority. They are made in a animal-free environment, including changing our clothes and showering before entering (hence the wet hair). We also do not use chain or quick links to protect your birds safety. All ropes are all natural and never cotton.
Maui is always having a good time when she’s on the jungle gym. The small birds get to enjoy it sometimes too! Though every aspect of the gym was designed for the larger birds, being on it still works for the little ones. Having the larger branches challenges the birds feet and balance. They don’t have as well of a grip around it, as their feet are forced to be flatter, which helps them work on their balance. This is incredibly natural for birds, as in the wild the little birds don’t just perch at the end of the tree where the branches are smaller. That’s more dangerous for them than being under the protection of the entire tree. I have seen the little misstep and flap to get readjusted. I’m glad they have full flight to aid them!
What I say when I see some of my customers orders 👀 y’all got some good taste, and love to spoil your birdies! I sell handmade parrot enrichment by a professional exotic animal trainer with behavioral modification in mind! Every enrichment item I create has foraging in mind, which makes setting up the mental stimulation easy!
I swear he likes the feeling of the blood rushing to his head. I have no proof except the fluff and chops that appear when he’s upside down
