Red Dun.
Got new red dun filly in barely leads but was confident enough to allow the saddle goin on the first day. She had a few other ideas up her sleeve but we worked them out and got past the trouble.
Dun filly
Little fun filly been here about 3 weeks, showed her the dummy and she fell right in.
Grey colt
The grey colt has been here about 45 days and coming along rather fast, shows a lot of interest in live cattle but still getting him to set up correctly on the dummy moving along faster than I expected him to. Goin to turn out to be a really nice horse.
Little stud.
Same little stud I’ve been riding and using on cow jobs has made his way to the pen becoming decent on the heel side. Still work a few small things out but coming along.
Been putting a lot of time into the colts here lately with a lot of new tools we have around here. Horses are turning out faster and coming along quickly.
Getting out
Got to take a few colts and the muts out to play a little.
Playing around
After working him in the area we thought we’d see how gentle he’s coming along and for his 21st ride I’d like to think he’s really doin well all around.
Back to basics of getting face soft and better stop.
So today didn’t have much goin on so we just played and did some simple basic work on colts. Went back on this stud just softening his face and getting stop down a little better. Will start working on keeping him straight as time goes on. He’s doin good and coming along nicely.
Last calf to catch
He ended the day on a good note. Stayed calm for everything I asked.
Getting to hold live calf
I know it’s in the pen but a good slow start for him to have held his first live calf.
Got to take both stud colts out to mess around on a small cow job this morning.
Both horses did decent, considering they’ve had the past couple days off with the rain here. Dee saddle busted a
D-ring a few minutes after starting and I turned around and he’s on the colt bare back on his 4th ride helping me sit in a gate. Could’ve been better but could’ve been a lot worse happy with both horses.
Got to go to another trainers place today and play around for a bit. The stud that’s been with us the longest has now been played with on a roping dummy and roped it a bit. Now he’s been on the flag and live calves in a cutting ring. Not perfect was his first time seeing everything, flag and cattle. Think he handled it good for his first time. Got a little lazy to the left and tap him in shoulder with toe to wake him up and he woke up and across the pen we went but didn’t have any issues other than waking him up.
So I posted a few videos, this is up to date, today is the 10th ride or so on the little stud, first time seeing a dummy, first time swinging a rip or anything. Went pretty good for his first at any of these things.
Sorry been away from the barn for a minute, trying build relationships and get things goin a little more. We are now back at the barn full time and goin stronger than ever. This is a stud I’ve been training, this is he 3rd ride. Videos won’t load together so having to do them separately.
Stud in training
This is the same little stud horse on his 5th ride. He’s coming along. I know I’m the videos he looks like I’m in his mouth by him gaping it open, but he’s done that from the beginning I’m not hardly touching him at all. He’s coming along and is pretty far along to a lot of colts I’ve seen for his 5th ride.
