So today I drove to LaBelle to try and find this dog. What you see is real. This dog is a genetic disaster. This is why you don't buy from a backyard breeder. See those eyes! I am willing to guess it is also blind. Now why would anyone one not stop and get this dog? I mean really how fast can a blind deformed dog run. The Lost and Found page for the town was not very helpful. I asked several times for help from the group and they decided they wanted their animal Control to handle it, Really!? I would be surprised if they have more than 4 officers. I'm sure they have plenty on their plate, without having to look for this dog. If it's not dead already it is suffering somewhere because nobody cared. I didn't go with the idea that I could fix him. But he would have had veterinary care and been loved after all was said and done. Who would force a dog to live this way, hell has a special pit just for them. I will sleep tonight knowing I tried all day when no one else would. Please pray for this dog to have peace quickly, it has suffered enough. This would never happen in our county.I would have had an army by my side 🙏

Our Sanctuary Heaven's Gate is in need of donations. FPL is wiping us out this summer. We run mostly out of pocket all year with very few donations throughout the year. PLEASE, We need dog food. A husky that looks not unlike himself stood regally on a rock, waiting for him to say goodbye to his special human. The halo didn't leave much room for wondering what was going to happen.

A Tale of Three Brothers

We have been super busy here at the Sanctuary. I am ready to share some recent events. This is a photo of 3 Senior brothers. Their story is long but, familiar, unfortunately. You may or may not know that I have a history of wildlife rescue and rehabilitation. If you go through our photos you will see our property and how natural we try to keep it. It's not just for privacy it's also for the wildlife. I was contacted about taking in three brothers with a very sad history of belonging to a hoarder who died. The have been abused in so many ways. They lived in the same small enclosure that they were born in for their entire lives. Often going without food. They had no shelter at all totally exposed to the elements including hurricanes for nine and a half years. When the hoarder died, his grandchildren took over and the neglect and abuse continued. The grandchildren took to selling all the hoarded animals on Craigslist. A potential buyer reported the terrible condition of all the animals and an investigation ensued. The brothers were supposed to have gone to a rescue in January. But, it didn't happen for whatever reason. My guess is there was money to be made. Fast forward to May. Local animal control does not allow dogs with any wolf content in their county. We had 24 hours until they would be euthanized. Never have I seen so many come together so fast to make a save. Kennels revamped, enclosure built and secured. We did it. They look great in pics but, they are severely malnourished. one of them was only 39 lbs. They have all tested positive for heartworms. They have ear infections, eye infections, parasites etc. They have had very little human interaction but, are surprisingly open to it even though they have beaten, neglected and starved. Please support us as we give these brothers the best life possible. We are going to give them their own page, I will announce the name when I come up with one. Thank you for reading their story.
