𝐅𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤: Lacey the Quaker parrot 🦜🦜

Lacey is a sweet girl, who loves to be around her people and has lots of affection to give. ❤️❤️

𝐅𝐮𝐧 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐭:
Lacey can be caught whistling parts of the song "Let me call you sweetheart"

It's our first "𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭'𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐠𝐧𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐬? - 𝐖𝐞𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲" 🕵️🧐

Our mystery diagnosis is...... a 𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐩𝐬𝐞.

Cloacal prolapses happen in a variety of species 🦎🦆🐍🦜and there causes include intestinal parasites, dystocia (difficulty passing eggs), nutritional deficiencies, trauma, cancers, bladder stones, intestinal impactions, and bacterial infections.

To treat this prolapse Dr. Dicharry Van Houten , first flushed and cleansed the pr*****ed tissue. Then some sugar was applied to draw out the fluid and reduce swelling. The tissue was cleansed once more and manually (with very gentle pressure) placed the tissue back inside the vent. Once everything was back in place a purse-string (encircling) suture was placed around the patient's vent to secure the tissue inside and prevent recurrence.

𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Adequate diets that are sufficient in calcium and vitamin D (but not too much vitamin D) may help prevent nutritional deficiencies and dystocia. F***s can be checked once a year with your veterinarian for parasites. Impactions can be prevented by avoiding problematic substrates like sand.

Dear Clients and Friends,

I am on the brink of a significant life transition, and it's not retirement. I have been presented with a once-in-a-lifetime consulting opportunity in India. I will be contributing to a massive zoo, rescue, wildlife rehabilitation, research, and conservation facility, which stands unparalleled on a global scale. Although it's not yet open to the public, I assure you, this is an exceptional venture.

This change has been in the works for some time. To ensure the continuity of top-tier care at the Rainforest Clinic for Birds and Exotics, I've introduced the talented Dr. Jena Dicharry to our team. She will continue to provide outstanding avian and exotic animal care, and I am confident you will all come to appreciate her expertise and compassion. Moreover, our dedicated staff members - JoAnn, Kerry, Brianna, and Tracy - will be on hand to support her in delivering the best of care.

While I will be traversing between India and our home base, this shift is not permanent. I remain accessible via email, phone, text, and video calls. During specific hours, I'll be available on Zoom to assist Dr. Dicharry with challenging cases or to offer a second opinion.

I will deeply miss each and every one of you. However, please do not hesitate to reach out. Although I'll be on the other side of the world, I'm merely a message away.

Warm regards, Susan

🌴🐍 Hold Your Iguanas, Folks! The Rumor Mill Got Pranked! 🐢🦎

Attention all cool cats and exotic pet lovers! We've got a rumor so wild, even our resident parrot couldn't squawk it with a straight beak 🦜🗯️ That's right, the chitchat about our exotic pet clinic closing is as accurate as a chameleon wearing neon stripes! 🦎🌈

You see, our sloth receptionist fell asleep at the keyboard again, and next thing you know, the internet's buzzing with tales of our closure. But fret not, because our clinic is very much alive and kicking, just like a kangaroo on a trampoline! 🦘🎪

The tortoises are slow, but our services aren't going anywhere! From snakes that slither to tarantulas that tango, we're here to cater to your exotic companions with more enthusiasm than a hyperactive ferret on espresso ☕🐾

So, why are we not packing up shop? Well, rumor has it that our bearded dragon started this whole thing as an elaborate prank to see who's been paying attention. Let's just say he's now on dishwashing duty for the next century 🦎🍽️

In summary, folks, the only thing vanishing faster than our disappearing gecko act is this rumor. We're swinging open our doors wider than a monkey on a vine to welcome you and your extraordinary critters! 🐒🌴🚪

Stay wild and keep those scales, feathers, and furry friends coming through our doors!

Home now after the Loro Parque Conference. Was a wonderful time, great talks, great time with friends.
The Keisslings invited me to their table for the final gala along with dear friends Jaco Lacs and Tony Silva. Despit the light rain everyone stayed for the event. Added to the fun.

I was on my way to Tenerife to attend the Loro Parque conference. Unfortunately when I arrived in Madrid I found out that the Canary Islands has been hit by a tropical cyclone- very rare event. Every airport in the islands is shut down and probably won’t reopen until Wednesday. I’ve been in line to get a hotel voucher and try to change flights for 2 hours.

There were about 1000 people in line. Now down to a few hundred and another several hundred just showed up behind me.

Extremely rare occurrence in the Canary Islands.

Anyone still doubt climate change. Just last week hurricanes hit Puerto Rico and Alaska on the same weekend

Probably will try to catch the next flight back to Florida. By the time I get to the conference there will only be 1 day left.

Very disappointed!
