Animal Welfare Society of Southeastern Michigan We are a 100% NO-KILL animal shelter & rescue dedicated to saving lives in Michigan, Texas and Ohio.

Founded in 1982, the Animal Welfare Society of Southeastern Michigan (“AWS”) is a 100% NO-KILL animal rescue and shelter. The animals stay with us until they find a good home, no matter how long that takes. We rescue animals from high-kill shelters in Michigan, Ohio and Texas. Animals are loved and cared for by our amazing staff and volunteers. They receive all necessary vet care, no matter what t

he cost. 100% of all donations go directly toward the care of the animals in our shelter. AWS strives to educate the public on the importance of spaying and neutering, along with proper vet care for your pet. AWS offers a food pantry to low income pet owners who can no longer afford to feed their pets. AWS also offers dog training at our facility, and adopters receive a 20%
discount when you sign up for class.

DONATIONS NEEDED! Meet Stormi. Stormi was left in a cage outside of our back door during the early morning hours. Which must have been very traumatic for poor Stormi. At least they left a note with her name and age. But they also left us with the vet bill. It will cost well over $300 to get this poor girl fully vetted and ready for adoption. We are praying she is heartworm negative. The sad thing is, Stormi has had multiple litters of puppies, one very recently. So they obviously profited off of her puppies and discarded her. So very sad.

If you wish to donate toward Stormi’s care, please click on either link below. As always, we thank you for your support. 💜

MEET MAGGIE! Maggie is a 3-year old, 28 lb. Terrier mix of some sort. She loves kids and other dogs. NO CATS! Maggie really loves being around people. She would love to get out of the shelter ASAP! She wasn’t eating much at first but we soon discovered that she loves Fresh Pet dog food! So we spoil her here at the shelter. ❤️ We can’t say enough about how sweet this girl is! She will be a loving and loyal companion. A fenced yard is required.

If you are interested in adopting this wonderful girl, please submit your application today! You may do so in person, or via our website:

INDY & CHEVY! We have two amazing 12-week old purebred Great Pyrenees pups. They are both males, and are the sweetest, most loving pups ever. They are very playful, cuddly, and will grow to be huge dogs! We do prefer breed experience with these pups. This breed is not for everyone. A fenced yard is preferred. ❤️

MEET LEAH! Leah is a stunning 1-year old English Springer Spaniel. She weighs 40 lbs. Leah is fantastic with kids and gets along well with other animals, making her a great fit for households with multiple pets. She is both kennel trained and house trained, and she knows her basic commands, demonstrating her smart and eager-to-please nature. She loves outdoor playtime, where she can run and explore, but she also cherishes her cozy nap times. A young active family would be ideal for Leah. A fenced yard is required.

Leah is a true sweetheart who loves to be close to her people. If you're searching for a loyal, playful, & affectionate family dog, Leah is the perfect match for you! PLEASE NOTE, WE ADOPT TO MICHIGAN RESIDENTS ONLY!

MEET HANK! Handsome Hank is a stunning 2-year old Great Pyrenees mix. We were told Hank can be more of an alpha dog than submissive. So he can be picky on which dogs he gets along with in the home. Hank loves being brushed and is good when bathed. He even lets you wipe his feet before he comes inside. Hank is very treat motivated. He is a smart boy who can be easily trained to become the best dog he can be. Hank isn’t doing well in the shelter. He would really benefit from being in a home so he can build trust and a bond with his owner. He would also benefit from training, as he has a few quirks (don’t we all)! A fenced yard would be best as Hank loves to run and play in the yard. He also enjoys going for walks. If you are looking for a good companion and best friend, Hank may be the dog for you! A quiet adult home would be best. ❤️

If you are interested in adopting this sweet boy, please submit an application today! You may do so in person at the shelter, or via our website:

UPDATE: A huge thank you to everyone who has donated puppy formula! We now have a large supply and thank you all so much! Our supporters are the best! ❤️🐾

Willow and her 13 puppies are doing fabulous! The pups are almost 4-weeks old now and have started eating mush. Willow has been an excellent mother!! You can tell she is producing less milk and is becoming sore, however. We could sure use some help with puppy formula as 13 pups go through it very quickly! You may purchase it on Amazon or at any pet supply store. Thank you in advance for your support with this precious family! ❤️🐾

STELLA UPDATE:
We would like to thank
everyone who donated to help with Stella’s emergency vet bill. Your generosity has been amazing and we appreciate you all so very much. We could not have paid the bill without the help of our amazing supporters.

Unfortunately, while in the vet hospital it was discovered that Stella has a grade 4/6 heart murmur, has heart disease, and is around 6-7 and not 3 as we thought. Being put under anesthesia for her spay is what caused Stella to have severe breathing issues. We almost lost her. Thank goodness the vet was able to stabilize her. Stella does need to see a cardiologist to evaluate her and she will probably need further testing.

Stella has been released from the vet hospital and is spending her first night in her new foster home. She is on a lot of medications around the clock so being in a foster home is a lifesaver for her. We would like to thank Alyse Quinn Wharry for opening her heart and home to this special girl. Stella has won the hearts of everyone she meets.❤️ Please continue to pray for Stella that she can beat this, and live out the remainder of her life happy and healthy.🙏

***PLEASE READ***
STELLA NEEDS YOUR HELP!!! Our sweet girl Stella is currently hospitalized with aspirated pneumonia, which was a result of her spay on Friday. She
was having a very difficult time breathing and was clearly in distress by time we made it to our vet. They gave her oxygen, IV meds and did X-rays. This cost $900. As she was not progressing as well as they had hoped, they strongly suggested she go to an emergency vet overnight in hopes that they could get her stable. We took her to the ER vet and they gave us an estimate of $3600-6000. We were in shock! We had no choice but to admit her and pray we can raise enough funds to cover her bill!!! We paid over $3600 as the initial deposit.

Stella means the world to us. Despite her rough start in life, she has won the hearts of many with her loving personality, non stop grunts and snorts, her love of food, and belly rubs! We must do everything we can to save her life!

Below is a copy of the estimated bill. Any donations would help us tremendously. We just paid off a huge bill and we are simply out of money! Please, please help us save Stella! ❤️❤️❤️

Donations can be made by clicking on either link below! Thank you in advance!!
