*One year ago*

Quite often, I reflect on this and find Boston where ever he’s at to give him all the loves.
It was a Thursday around 7pm that I started to notice him acting strange. Long story short the vets at the ER had me say goodbye to him at 2:30am, completely by myself in Indianapolis. I was sobbing on the floor with him in my arms and begged God to save him on my way home. To say I’m thankful he lived is an understatement. This dog is incredibly special to me, for so many reasons.

GDV (gastric dilatation and volvulus)
—> Life threatening disorder commonly seen in large dog breeds with deep chests.
—> stomach will fill with gas and sometimes only cause a “bloat”
—> other times the bloat will cause a volvulus: the gas filled stomach twists so that the entrance and exit of the stomach become blocked.

Please do your research if you have or know someone that has a deep chested large dog such as Great Danes, standard poodles, Weimaraners, St. Bernards, German shepherds and Dobermans to name some.
