I hope everyone has a safe 4th,
please think of your family, friends, neighbors, before you lite that fuse!
Think of the veterans and elderly !! Many can’t handle loud noises.
Many animals including dogs, cats and horses will run in fear!

More pets run away on the Fourth of July than any other day, so you should take extra steps to ensure their safety. Keep a keen eye on your dog during the commotion, and make sure your pet is wearing proper identification.
Bring them inside, keep them safe !

It is natural for dogs to be afraid of loud noises. The sounds trigger their nervous systems, and they can become anxious or afraid.
Running away from the noise is a survival instinct.
Bring them inside ! Keep them safe!

Remember, to your dog, the experience of fireworks is different than other natural loud noises, like thunder.
Fireworks are closer to the ground, more vibrant, and are accompanied by sudden booms, flashes, bright lights, and burning smells.
Dogs experience the world through their senses — nose, eyes, ears. The typical Fourth of July celebration can be overwhelming, frightening, and terrifying to them.
Bring them inside! Keep them safe!

January 18, 2022 – the Safe Outdoor Dogs Act went into effect in the state of Texas.
According to the Texas Humane Legislation Network (THLN), the Safe Outdoor Dogs Act is a law governing the restraint of outdoor dogs by:

Defining adequate shelter to protect dogs from extreme temperatures, inclement weather, and standing water.
Previously, there was no definition for shelter, thus tethered dogs routinely perished from exposure.

Requiring access to fresh drinkable water.
Before the Safe Outdoor Dogs Act, state law did not include this vital requirement.

Requiring safe restraints.
The Safe Outdoor Dogs Act strikes the use of chains. Other means of restraint, such as cable tie-outs, may be used so long as they are correctly attached to a collar or harness designed to restrain a dog.

Removed the 24-hour waiting period previously required that prevented animal control or law enforcement officers from taking immediate action.
The Safe Outdoor Dogs Act
does not prevent owners from tethering dogs, but does define requirements that must be met to ensure the dog is allowed access to adequate shelter and water and limits the types of restraints allowed to be used.
