Meet Luana Pereira, Veterinary Assistant
Luana was a licensed Veterinarian in Brazil and worked there for many years in a clinic. She moved to the US around 2013 with her husband Celso. Her veterinary license would not transfer from Brazil to the US since our licensing criteria is different, so she is currently pursuing her Michigan DVM license. Currently, she spends most of her time in the clinic working in surgery with our lead technician Robyn and the doctors.
Please feel free to leave a kind note for vet tech week here for Luana.

Meet Karlean Clifford, Licensed Vet Tech
Karlean grew up in northeast Wisconsin and always had dogs and cats as important members of her family. From a young age she knew she wanted a career working with animals, and dreamed of some day entering the field of veterinary medicine. With a particular interest in wildlife, Karlean started out volunteering at several wildlife rehabilitation centers in Wisconsin and Michigan. In 1997, she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, then moved to Michigan. Although she spent the next 15 years working outside the field of animal medicine, Karlean always felt there was something missing and longed to return to her life-long passion for a career with animals. Switching her focus to small animal medicine, she returned to school and graduated with an Associate of Science degree in Veterinary Technology from Brown Mackie College-South Bend in 2012.

First coming to Family Pet Health Center as a student, Karlean was thrilled to become part of the staff in 2013. She enjoys working with skilled people who genuinely care about the patients, clients and each other. Karlean appreciates the dynamic challenges and continual learning opportunities a career in medicine offers. Outside of work, Karlean’s biggest interests include music, dance, travel and photography. Her family currently includes three cats, but her greatest passion is being mom to her young son, Tristan.
Please feel free to post your comments for Karlean in this post.
