⭐️ See Below!
— Update as of 9:40am 6/7/24: Doc has not been caught yet, despite several sightings and another night of monitoring his movements. He is very active starting around 7-8 pm, often bolting across Lee-Davis Road and Lee Park, especially at night. We urge everyone traveling on these roads, particularly at night, to slow down and use caution. ⚠️ especially around Bell Creek Middle and Mechanicsville High School. We will be attempting another capture this evening. Daytime sightings are rare. We have several plans in place, including multiple traps. If anyone can loan a large animal trap, please drop it off at Mechanicsville Animal Hospital. To assist this evening, contact the number above.
— Update as of 7:00pm 6/6/24: There has been a confirmed sighting of Doc on Lee Park Road in the wooded area behind the oral surgeon. This is one of his normal spots, so he is staying in the area as we assumed.
— Update as of 5:32pm 6/6/24: The last accurate sighting of Doc was at 4am at Bell Creek Middle School parking lot. He has been known to venture there and Mechanicsville High School’s parking lot and of course back to Lee-Park Road. There was a potential sighting of a black dog on Bell Creek Road near Sandy’s Plants near the culvert this evening around 5:30pm, but could not confirm if it was Doc. I will be out this evening monitoring to see if I see him near Bennet Funeral Home, where he has been since in that area. Please be on the lookout near these locations, especially the potential sighting on Bell Creek Road.
— Update as of 12:00am 6/6/24: We currently have a trap set. Several community members were out tonight monitoring the situation. If you see him, please text 804-690-2413 to help us track his whereabouts and ensure he stays in the area and that he is safe. He seems to have created a diameter around Lee Park Road. At this point, we are extremely confident of knowing his travel route. He WILL RUN if approached due to his skittish behavior. Therefore, it's best to keep activity quiet and only observe from a distance. Tonight, he approached the trap and put his head inside, showing some trust in the food and water placed there. We kindly ask the public not to leave food elsewhere and to not approach or chase him. Members in the community have dedicated their time this evening and into the morning to check the trap every few hours. The trap is located at a place that he keeps migranting back to.
— Update as of 2:24pm 6/5/24: A team member of ours recently sighted Doc this afternoon. We have been in contact with a professional who specializes in tracking and trapping lost dogs. Following their recommendation, as we set up traps and cameras, we request that the public refrain from putting down any food, as this may deter him from approaching the traps.
— We highly encourage the public to remain diligent and report any sightings of Doc so we can track his whereabouts. However, we ask that you avoid actively searching for him or trying to approach him when he is spotted, as he will run. This could unintentionally push him away from the traps.
We cannot thank everyone enough for their dedication, support, time, and commitment to finding Doc. We will keep everyone posted! Fingers crossed.
— Update as of 2:00am 6/5/24: Last night and into this morning, many members of the community spent their night tracking down Doc. Despite many attempts and sightings, we were unsuccessful as he runs when approached. Please continue to look out for him and be cautious when driving around Lee-Davis and Lee-Park Road. He is known to cross the street to Mechanicsville High School, then back to Lee-Park Road and around Bennett Funeral Home. We believe he is staying within this territory around our building. Please contact us immediately if you see him!
