Due to the length of appointment times, we have reassessed and updated our Late, Cancellation and No-Show Policy. Please review the updated policy below.

It is the policy of the hospital to monitor and manage appointment no-shows and late cancellations. Sharon Center Veterinary Hospital’s goal is to provide excellent care to each patient in a timely manner. If it is necessary to cancel an appointment, clients are required to call or leave a message at least 24 hours before their appointment time. Notification allows the hospital to better utilize appointments for other patients in need of prompt medical care.

Late Policy:
Being 5 minutes or more late for an appointment may require you to either reschedule or wait for an available opening. If you are unable to wait to be seen or are required to reschedule, a $25 late fee will be applied to your account. There are no guarantees to be worked-in since openings due to cancellations or no-shows are unpredictable. If you are late and your DVM is willing and able to still see you a work-in fee of $35 will be applied to your account.

Cancellation and No-Show Policy:
If you wish to change or cancel an appointment, we ask that you please provide 24-hour advance notice. This allows us to offer your appointment to another client who may be waiting to see a veterinarian. We understand, however, that emergencies can and do happen, and will make every attempt to work with you. If you can’t contact us 24 hours in advance, please call as soon as you know you cannot make your scheduled appointment time. If you miss your appointment without notice or provide less than 24-hour advance notice, it will be considered a no-show. We may charge you a $25 no-show fee. If a client no-shows a second time, a deposit will be required to schedule any future appointments. This deposit will be applied toward your appointment but will be forfeited if the appointment becomes a no-show.

We are committed to ensuring that all patients have access to the care they need. Thank you for working with us to continue to meet this standard.

Thanks,
Sharon Center Veterinary Hospital

As temperatures rise, it's crucial to remember that our pets can't regulate their body temperature as efficiently as we can. Here are some tips to help keep them comfortable and healthy:

1. Hydration is key! Always provide fresh, clean water for your pets, and ensure they have access to shade and cool areas to rest.
2. Avoid leaving pets in hot cars, even for a few minutes. Temperatures can soar to dangerous levels quickly, leading to heatstroke and even death.
3. Limit outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day. Opt for walks and playtime in the early morning or late evening when temperatures are cooler.
4. Watch for signs of heatstroke, including excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, and vomiting. If you suspect heatstroke, move your pet to a cooler area immediately and seek veterinary care.
5. Consider providing cooling options such as pet-safe cooling mats, frozen treats, or setting up a kiddie pool for them to splash around in.

Let's prioritize our pets' well-being and ensure they stay safe and comfortable in the summer heat. Together, we can make this season a breeze for our furry companions! ☀️

Happy Senior Health and Fitness Day, pet parents!
Today, we're celebrating our beloved senior pets and their well-being. Just like us, our furry friends deserve to enjoy their golden years with vitality and happiness.

Here are some tips to keep your senior pets healthy and active:

· Regular Vet Check-ups: Schedule routine check-ups with your veterinarian to monitor your pet's health and catch any issues early.
· Balanced Diet: Feed your senior pet a balanced diet tailored to their age, weight, and health condition. Consider senior-specific pet foods to support their nutritional needs.
· Gentle Exercise: Keep your senior pet active with low-impact exercises like short walks, swimming, or gentle play sessions. Adjust activities based on their mobility and energy levels.
· Mental Stimulation: Stimulate your senior pet's mind with puzzle toys, interactive games, and training sessions to keep them mentally sharp.
· Comfort and Care: Provide a comfortable environment with soft bedding, easy access to food and water, and accommodations for any mobility challenges.

🌳 Hippity, hoppity, Easter is on its way, and so is potential danger to your pets. Here are four items that can pose a risk:

The Easter Lily – While one of the most popular plants this time of the year, it is also one of the most poisonous. Easter lilies are highly toxic to cats. Additionally, the Tiger Lily, Rubrum Lily, Japanese Show Lily and certain species of the Daylily are also poisonous to cats. Avoid any bouquets with lilies and instead opt for a safer option like Easter orchids, roses, or daisies.

Chocolate – Easter baskets are often overflowing with chocolate eggs and rabbits. Animals are extremely sensitive to theobromine and caffeine. High levels of both are found in dark and baking chocolate. Ingesting dark or baking chocolate can be fatal for pets.

Sugar-free gum and candies – These items are often made with xylitol, a sugar substitute that causes a dog’s blood sugar to drop quickly. This poisoning can be treated but causes liver failure if not treated properly.

Easter basket grass – The springtime version of Christmas tinsel entices both canines and felines alike. Easter basket grass can cause choking or intestinal obstruction in pets if ingested.
