Harley Update! Harley recently moved to the mainland and is roadtripping across the country with his family to their new home! We had one last meet up with the Oahu Aumakua pups before they left a few weeks ago. We sure will miss them but can't wait to see what adventures he finds now!

Met up with Harley from the Aumakua litter this week to practice some training for his upcoming move across the country! Splash 'N Dash pups will always get lifetime support from me including free training sessions like this at any time in their life! Harley us such a smart, biddable dog that is always fun to work with! Hulu came along for aupport and they always enjoy spending some time together. We sure will miss him and his family when they make their move but can't wait to follow their adventures!

This is a video of an Open level Barn Hunt run that Hulu competed in at the Kentuckiana Cluster last month. She had no prior training and I didn't really know what I was doing either but we did it! In order to earn a qualifying run in this level she had 2.5 minutes to find the 2 tubes containing rats (there are 4 tubes hidden under the hay, 2 have live rats, 1 is empty, and 1 contains soiled rat litter), climb up on at least one hay bale with all 4 feet, and go through a tunnel made out of hay bales that has 1 90 degree turn. For her the rats are the easy part, the tunnel confuses her because it's not an agility tunnel that she is used to and she really just wants to search for rats instead.

I love that our Splash 'N Dash family of puppy owners is so supportive of eachother! Not only do we all keep in contact through a private Facebook group to help eachother out with anything going on in our puppy raising journey but we also meet up in person to support one another! Shadows "mom" is running for Mrs. Hawaii this year so a fundraiser FastCAT event was put on to help her succeed! Wynter, Koa, Bindi, Shadow, Nalu and their human families came to help her out! Good luck Ashley!

I got to meet up with one of the Aumakua litter pups that I hadn't seen since he went home over 2 years ago! Vash (formerly Opeapea) has matured into a gorgeous dog and had maintained his wonderful temperament that we saw during his temperament test so long ago! This guy is so biddable, stable minded, and was so well behaved with all of the crowds at the kentuckiana cluster of dog shows! This was his first dog event but he handled it like a pro! He picked up on FastCAT quickly and will be continuing the sport in the future! He also got to do an instinct test for barn hunt and did great! It was fun seeing him and Hulu get along so well after all these years apart 💛🦇

Hulu had her first big outing working as a service animal last month when we flew from Hawaii to Indiana and I am beyond proud of how well she did with the craziness of airport travel! It's so wonderful getting compliments from the airline staff and restaurant staff about how well behaved she is and comments from people not even realizing she was there. Seeing the hard work of training for years for public access and tasks pay off is a great feeling! The plane was the hardest thing to prepare for without having a good way to practice that but other than a little uncertainty during take off and landing she slept the entire trip. Rex Specs Ear Pro's also helped to block out the noise so she could sleep easily during the long flight but still perform necessary tasks for me.

**This has been a process of 2 years of intense training to prepare her for service work and public access. I do not generally reccomend this breed for service work and do not generally place puppies in service dog homes as this breed has a high probability of washing. If you are looking for a service dog prospect look at Golden Retrievers, Labs, Poodles, and Rough/Smooth Collies that are being bred specifically for this work AND work with a well known trainer that specializes in service animal training. Please dont attempt to take a dog on an airplane as a service animal without proper training and needed task work.**

Hulu traveled to Louisville, KY to attend the Kentuckiana Cluster of Dog Shows in March! She got to spend 5 days competing in FastCAT and CAT. This was her first time on the CAT course and she loved it! She earned both her CA title and CAA title.

She also entered Barn Hunt with neither of us having any experience in the sport! I googled the rules minutes before and she took to it immediately earning her Instinct title and Novice title as well as a leg towards her Open title!

Riley (previously Kala from the 2022 Pua Litter) competed in her first AKC FastCAT tests this month! This girl has some serious drive and speed! Her best time was 8.275 seconds, which is 24.72 mph! Can't wait to see her speed as she grows in this sport!

Hulu earned her DCAT title last weekend at the Oahu Fast CAT test hosted by the Shetland Sheepdog Club od Hawaii, Terriers in Paradise, and Speed Dog Coursing! This little dog LOVES to chase the bunny! She also gained a new personal best of 23.657 mph! Next stop Louisville, Kentucky for the Kentuckiana Cluster for this Hawaiian pup!

Update on Splash 'N Dash Mano O Ke Aka Wasson TKA BCAT "Shadow"! He was Mano from the Aumakua litter and just turned 2 years old! This pup is the most high energy, high drive pup from both litters and certainly isn't an "easy" dog but his owners make him look it! I'm so proud of them for being able to provide the mental and physical work that he needs!

Shadow has competed in every single AKC FastCAT test that has been held in Hawaii so far including flying to another island for one! Not only did he earn in BCAT in just 2 weekends of events but he has managed to be in the top 2 fastest non sighthounds at every event!

He's also dabbled in herding, agility and Obedience over the last 2 years as well as became an awesome horse trail dog!

Shadow is currently in training to be a service dog and has picked up on his task training quickly! Tik Tok video below shows some of his public access training as well as task training.

One more video of Wynter from while she stayed with me last week! She did really well working out in busy Haleiwa around all the tourists! She was initially a little unsure about everything going on but recovered quickly and had fun working for me!

I'm going to share some puppy updates over the next few days since I've gotten way behind on updating this page!

First will be Wynter (Splash 'N Dash Outrun The Storm)! Wynter was "Uki" in the Pua litter and just turned 1 year old. I got to spend some time with her last week while she stayed with me for a few days! Like we saw in the puppy temperament tests at 7 weeks old she is a more soft tempered pup and is reserved with strangers. Once she considers you one of her people though she is extremely affectionate! This girl is very biddable and tries so hard to please! I also noticed that she really thinks about things instead of just acting on impulse. She is dog neutral working around other dogs and does well meeting/interacting with other dogs although she can be a little timid at first.

While visiting I had the opportunity to work her on my sheep! This was only her second exposure to stock and I was so proud of what I saw! Again she puts a lot of thought into her work making her a great stock dog! She had a good understanding of rating the stock. She has nice naturally nice outruns for a puppy and also figured out quickly that these sheep are drawn to the gate so she always placed herself between them and the gate to keep them with me. Roo ran a couple agility courses today for the first time in over 4 years! He was a little distracted but remembered everything and had so much fun!

Riley (previously Kala) is staying with me for a few days so we took the opportunity to go work sheep! She is about 8 months old now and has only been on stock a handful of times since she is a puppy. We had some gunfire and bombs from the nearby military base go off but she wasn't bothered or distracted by that at all!

Kala and Hele also got to do a short puppy fun run and they absolutely loved it! Both puppies had so much drive for that lure, this is definitely a sport they will want to continue when they are old enough to actually compete! I think this video is Kala, it's hard to tell the two pups apart from this angle though!

Bindi got to get out of the house for an event for the first time since having puppies and she had a blast! This was her first Fast CAT test and although all of my dogs loved the lure, she loved it the most! Although she's not quite as conditioned right now she ran her heart out and I can't wait to see her times next trial! Run 1: 9.602 seconds / 21.30 mph Run 2: 9.505 seconds / 21.52 mph Run 3: 9.663 seconds / 21.168 mph Run 4 (had to re-run this one due to timer error so she was tired for it): 9.931 seconds / 20.60 mph Shr earned 127 points towards ger BCAT title!

Roo got to compete in Fast CAT again for the first time in I think 5 years! He was a tiny bit slower than his last run but pretty good for a nearly 9 year old dog that hadn't done this in so long! I was very proud of him for chasing the lure instead of just running to me like he did his first time and he had so much excitement for this sport (any let everyone know how excited he was for every run)! Run 1: 8.931 seconds / 22.90 mph Run 2: 9.064 seconds / 22.57 mph Run 3: 9.105 seconds / 22.47 mph Run 4: 8.763 seconds / 23.342 mph Including his points from his first test he now has 114.82 points towards his BCAT title out of the 150 required!

Hulu at her first ever Fast CAT test last weekend! She took to the lure immediately and had so much drive and so much fun! Each run was 100 yards. Run 1: 8.933 seconds / 22.90 mph Run 2: 9.174 seconds / 22.30 mph Run 3: 9.124 seconds / 22.42 mph Run 4: 9.257 seconds / 22.10 mph She earned 134 out of 150 points needed for her BCAT title!

Hele did great today for his training outing to Petsmart and the town center mall! He was a little uncomfortable with the kid throwing things at the trash can mext to him bit still did well. He is doing well with his stays while strangers pass by.

Kala had her second ever swim today and loved it!

Kala watched fast CAT today and I'd say this will be a sport she will love when she's old enough! Look how excited she gets when she sees the lure! She is also quiet in her crate while waiting her turn and doesn't even need to be covered. Someone needs to grab her up for a sport home!
