I will be auctioning off a 30 day training to benefit Logan and his family at the NYE sale at The Auction House at The Eyler Stables ! I am so proud to be a part of the Legacy my parents are helping to build.
This is Logan. Logan lives right here in our community, he plays ball with our kids, his dad coaches for our little league. Logan is 8 years old and this week has been diagnosed with an aggressive cancer.
When the unthinkable happens we as a community need to rise up and support each other. It takes a village to help carry the weight when we just can’t. We at The Auction House want to help carry the burden and will be offering all proceeds from the sale of Silver (hip 5) offered by Latshaw Stables to Logan’s family so they can focus on what is most important, Logan. We are also asking local businesses to donate gift baskets, or items to be auctioned off through out the day Saturday (December 31) at our sale.
“Our son has cancer. Our beautiful, funny, otherwise healthy, sensitive boy is fighting for his life. I haven’t said it out loud yet and we still can’t wrap our mind around how we ended up here. I know God has his hand in this battle but man sometimes it’s hard to see it.
Logan is diagnosed with T- cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma. It’s an aggressive cancer but typically responds well to treatment. He has a large mass in his chest that they think grew in less than 3 weeks. We are currently in PICU until the mass shrinks because it’s pressing on his heart and airway. Chemotherapy is the standard treatment and is a 2 and a half year long process. We started yesterday and our life is forever changed. Watching that poison go into your kid to save their life is the most terrifying and counterintuitive thing.
Everyone has been asking how this happened and there’s no real answer. It’s just some cells that went crazy in simple terms. In September Logan was complaining about mild pain in the middle of his chest. I took him to his pediatrician who did an X-ray and ekg…all normal. He was prescribed an anti-inflammatory. Right before Thanksgiving, he started with a mild cough. Different than a sick cough and I could hear it in his breathing. When it didn’t go away he went back to the pediatrician. His lungs sounded good and we were given a prescription for Zyrtec. My mama instinct knew it wasn’t allergies. His face and neck looked swollen to me and he looked worn out. Friday night I took him to the ER where a CT scan showed a large mass in his chest. Brian was home with Hartley and the faces of the doctor and nurse who pulled me into that room alone to tell me about my baby will forever be engrained in my brain.
For the time being, we are looking at at least a month hospital stay for his induction chemo. Some parts of this long process can be done at home, and some he will need to be inpatient. He will have zero immunity during a lot of this so our main concern will be keeping him healthy. It goes without saying that this boy is the strongest kid I know. The things he’s had to comprehend and go through the past few days is nothing short of a living hell 💔
We have been incredibly blessed by all the outpouring of support and prayers we’ve received. Thank you so much! Please keep them coming ❤️” -Erin Smith
