Did you know? The FDA approved ProHeart 12 for heartworm prevention despite the manufacturer listing death as an adverse event.

Here are some other adverse reactions listed on the label:
- Anaphylaxis
- Collapse
- Weight loss, weakness
- Vomiting, diarrhea
- Seizure
- Anemia.. and more.

But here’s what’s shocking: ProHeart 12 is nearly identical to ProHeart 6, but with 3 times the concentration of moxidectin, its active ingredient. ProHeart 6 was withdrawn after 5,500 adverse reactions, including over 600 deaths.

Even more concerning, ProHeart 12, like other heartworm drugs, doesn’t prevent heartworm disease—it only works if your dog already has it! The drug doesn’t kill the adult worms; it just stops them from releasing microfilariae.

What’s worse, if your dog has an adverse reaction, since ProHeart 12 is an injection, the drug remains in your dog for 12 months or longer—you can't simply stop using it.

Wow!

When the USDA condemns livestock (deems them unsafe for consumption) the FDA takes them and declares they are safe to use for pet food!

🤔 If these animals are not safe for human consumption, what makes them safe for our pets to consume?

Tick-borne diseases are scary, but what is even scarier is how many pet parents have been told these flea/tick chemicals are completely safe. Adverse reports from isoxazoline based products (Trifexis, NexGard, Bravecto, Credelio, Simparica Trio) are especially alarming since it's estimated only 1% of adverse reactions are reported.

The first step is to understand your pets risk.
- What does a tick bite look like?
- Which tick species are important to know?
- What diseases can ticks transmit to dogs and cats?

From there, it is important to find safer alternatives that prevent tick-borne diseases! There are many options to choose from.

1 Male left! Mother is a papered Shih Tzu and Father is Shih Tzu with and 1/8 Pomeranian. They have had their 1st shots and will have deworming started by their 8 week ready date. Private message me for further details. Please excuse the rotting deck boards, wanted them in the sun and not on the cold ground for their first time outside. And although my dog fathered these pups they are not in my home. They are with their mother but I can arrange viewing.
