Advice needed please

Alright folks what drags do yall like and why? Would love an option that you feel like anyone can operate and maybe even use it with a gator or four wheeler. Maybe it’s not possible but would love y’all’s opinion.

Just a reminder with this heat wave coming through it could be snowing y’all ….. and then we would have to shovel snow in the heat ;). I read that one today and thought it was pretty funny. Hope y’all stay safe out there and remember it’s better to be here dealing with whatever the problem is than not being around to deal with it.

Working Equitation Play Date at the WW

In exciting anticipation for this weekends show we wanted to invite folks out Tuesday July 2nd at 6pm
to the WW 85207 Telephone Pole Rd Milton-Freewater, OR 97862. We will tentatively have another one on Thursday evening as well if there are interested folks. A full obstacle course will be set up in the outdoor arena and potentially a dressage court in the indoor. Pavito and I are planning to save one horse each to ride that time if folks want to chat with us about anything and if not that’s okay too just ride and have fun. Only cost for the time is WW haul in.

Anybody know what this is? It’s good to have a work/play balance and that often means getting out into nature for us. Flash back Friday has us on the wonderful Dales pony known as Robin when we decided to go fly fishing at the river. I have really enjoyed the Dales pony breed including the crosses I have ridden. We are currently standing another Dales pony known as Taz for breedings and he is just as sweet as can be and throws that super agreeable temperament to his offspring. Hope everyone is having a great start to the summer and come see us if y’all are in the area or follow us on social media 🙂

What an awesome weekend as we got to be at two dressage shows at the lovely Spokane sport horse farm, but we also got to go to two all star games. Super proud of pavito in how he handled himself in both of the endeavors and that is another wonderful Father’s Day in the books. Special shout out to all the dads out there and the moms who make it all possible as well. Y’all are awesome and loved.

It is so much fun to watch it click for horse and rider when we work cows. So many of us can ride to our full potential when we do something besides focus on riding. I think of the idea of effortless effort or relaxing while trying really hard to focus. Sometimes just getting out of our own way or our horses way is the best way to do things 🙂

So we got our alfalfa hay down and wow what a fun field it makes to ride in for some hacking out. Our program allows us to grow our own alfalfa and purchase our grass hay from a consistent supplier. We believe having consistent hay sources for our horses limits the upset tummy issues that horses can have when one is getting different forages from different fields. Sourcing the same fields ensures we are providing a quality we are comfortable with plus a stable diet without so many ups and downs. I compare it to eating home cooking consistently versus eating home cooking and then McDonald’s and then three other restaurants it might all be burgers and fries but you sure don’t feel the same after each one mixing it up.

Everyone can imagine how proud I am as a papa to this wonderful little horseman. He continues to impress me with his skills and compassion with horses. 2023 treated him well in many disciplines and it was a special treat that he took home some top honors with his steady spotty body “Rocky” in the sport of working equitation.

This wonderful gelding is on the hunt for his forever dance partner. He has a wide range of skills and life experiences including hauling to shows throughout the northwest. He goes into water, jumps cute and know his way around a dressage court. Dual registered and stout enough for an adult or friendly enough for a kiddo to ride he just might be the next addition for the whole family to ride.

In teaching the cattle clinic here for the WE in Wine Country show I was able to capture this wonderfully executed maneuver. All the groups did a fabulous job and were super fun to work with. This “filling all the gaps” V or U shape was perfectly represented in this photo to encourage the cow on into the pen.

It is time to see if anyone knows what this type of a shoe job is called. It has a few different names so we have lots of chances here to get it right as well as learn common names for a shoe placed like this. You can see that we also have a pad insert on this guy. Love it when we can work with our veterinarian and farrier to ensure our horses can be the most comfortable possible.
