It’s not often that I turn my back to a stranger, nor is it often that I give my belly to someone new. But I did both with the awesome vet tech at Twin Cities Animal Rehabilitation + Sports Medicine Clinic for my appointment today! The pawesome dogctor gave my mom some at home exercises to do to help build strength in muscles that support my front leg. They also decided to put me on Adequan to help stop/reverse arthritis progression and hopefully help rebuild my joint cartilage! I was such a good boi (of course) and the staff loved me (of course). Thank you TCAR!

I have this thing called Gingival Hyperplasia, which is an overgrowth of gum tissue. So, today I get my annual dental cleaning and gingivoplasty. I like the pawesome staff here, but since I have bite history I’m always as a precaution!

We are weekend fostering this curly chimken nugget while he’s looking for his forever home. Red Rover is an 18lb 7 year old Cavipoo that can be a jerk sometimes but he was born in June and is a Cancer so they’re known for being moody. He can also be real loving and nice too! He’s our friend and we want him to find his forever home like we did. Let’s talk muzzles for a second. We often get dirty looks or nasty comments from people when they see Mushu in his muzzle. In reality, so many dogs would benefit from a muzzle, and the humans around them would as well. As a dog with protective instincts and stranger danger, Mushu has bite history. Wearing a muzzle allows him to interact with members of the public in a safe way. Yet, instead of appreciating the responsibility of that decision, people often villainize it. This, most likely, is not because they are jerks, but because they are misinformed. So let’s normalize muzzles!

Had my first obedience class tonight at Cloud Nine & I was a top student. That’s right! I was in the top of my class in weight and amount/volume of barking!

I know what you’re thinking. “But Mushu, you already know all those obedience skills you handsome devil.” And you’re right. BUT. All that goes out the door when I leave my house because I get completely overstimulated. To help me learn to be more calm when I’m outside my comfort zone, I’m getting some exposure repetitions in safe and controlled situations. Huge thanks to the trainers at Cloud Nine - especially my instructor Candy - for helping me on my journey towards the most peaceful-est golden years ever. ❤️

Oh, PS - muzzled dogs aren’t bad dogs.
