February is National Pet Dental Month! In the cold months while cuddled up to your furry friend, have you noticed an odor coming from your pets mouth? Aversions to hard food, plaque and tartar buildup, and red, swollen, and even bleeding gums are also an indication that your pet may be in need of some dental care! Did you know tartar buildup, which is a hardening of plaque, the slimy bacterial film that coats teeth, can have adverse effects on your pet’s heart, kidneys, and liver. The bacteria from their mouths can travel throughout their bodies and affect the important organs of your furry friend. Good dental care and prevention can extend the life, by possibly years, of the pet member of your family!

A puppy filled day at Mullinix Vet reminds us that even after the last two tough weeks, during the Dog Days of summer, that we might be tired but after a little rest and relaxation we will be right back at it with renewed ability to face next week’s challenges. Thank Goodness for Puppies!!

Welcome to spring! Good balances evil! Watch out for ticks! This is an extremely prolific year for these blood sucking monsters! Dr. Mullinix has spent several hours on continuing education about ticks, and although they are a marvel of the parasite kingdom they are our nemesis! Please protect your dearest pet friends by treating them with Bravecto, Credelio, or Vectra. Help us in our battle against tick borne diseases but enjoy our beautiful spring weather.😀

This just happened at my house! However it was my 2 cats Purrrsnikitty and Purrseus! But I knew which one did it... he was waiting for me at the bottom of the stairs...the other was cowering under the chair! Cats are absolutely not like dogs!!!
