I specialize in deer, exotics, lifesize mammals, turkeys, pheasants, ducks, geese and small game. I no longer offer wholesale services due to the overwhelming customer support and business booming. I’m focusing on quality in every mount and not focusing on mounting 10 deer a week throwing them out the door.

This customer did a great job caping they deer out. There is the full brisket area, and they cut along the back of the front legs on the white/brown line. Not cut up and didn’t have 40 # of neck roast either. Very nice job.

I started out doing only birds several years ago. Duck season is hit and miss and the last few years it’s not been the best.
I’ve jumped over to deer, mammals, and exotics. I set a quota on the number of mounts I take in so I know if I can take more birds, deer or whatever in.
I am currently full.

First aoudad to mount and I feel like it’s a nice put together piece. Freshly mounted, now to dry for finish work.

Working a few birds in with the deer. Mounting some competition pieces also that are my customers animals. I’m still working on being better at this and making them more lifelike.

I am currently at the Texas state taxidermy convention.
This is a great way to learn and improve your work. They have a lot of seminars and very knowledgeable people that are willing to help other taxidermist improve their art.

I had an aoudad brought in and being something I’ve never done I want to learn more before jumping in the middle of it.
I am 100% confident in my abilities and after watching Jerry Huffaker mount his I’m ready to take on the task.
This guy is one of the best at these animals so why would you not be standing over his shoulder taking notes and pictures the whole time.

Robert Majors did this antelope seminar and he’s one of the most talented well rounded taxidermist there is. It was super informative and everyone in the room learned a wealth of knowledge.

There are seminars done by multiple national, world and state champions here and you learn so much more than just about what they are mounting.

I do this for my customers and to improve my work.

Merry Christmas to everyone and be safe over the holiday season when your out hunting.
Your mother doesn’t want a phone call you fell out of a boat or out of a deer stand.

Be safe, have fun and may God be with us all every day.

A few I’ve been working on and getting ready.

I always mount my turkeys and let them dry before I put the head on. Hence the headless bird.

Not a full eagle head blue, but this guy has some pretty characteristics. He will be flying home to Kentucky soon.

There’s a few things in my shop that need picked up sometime.

Also I am not taking in anything right now but fish and a few slots for birds.

This coming fall I will limit the deer shoulder mounts. Trying to keep everything timely.

Thanks to all my great customers and everyone being patient. 👍

Been slacking on photos. I’ll post more later.

Read!!!!!
If you do not bring a brisket or legs with your deer you will not be able to use your cape.
If you leave the brisket in the gut barrel and cut the shoulders off, just go ahead and bring $150 with you for a cape.
When in doubt call me.

Get the hide in a freezer ASAP.

Outside the shop shots. Enjoy. 👍

Also this year, from the amount of “stuff” that keeps hanging around and a very small number of customers that see no rush in picking up this is for you.
One bad apple ruins the whole bunch.
99% of my folks are great but there’s always one cracker head in the bunch.
That 1 will pay and when it’s been here 30 days it will be gone.

Even if I had a 10,000 sq ft shop, it’s for mounting and drying mounts until they are ready to finish, not housing finished products.

After a lot of thought I set prices and fees for this coming year.
Due to the overwhelming support of caping services in the area that contributed to some trashed capes and a lot of unnecessary sewing and cleaning of the hides on my part; the fees for all that nonsense have been added.
I cannot stay on a schedule when one deer hide takes 2 hours to get into the tan vs 30 minutes when they are done right.
This 20 pounds of meat and blood soaked capes that are cut all to pieces will stop or a fee will be applied.
The meat and excess blood speeds the spoilage of the hides.
If the prices seem high or crazy-
1- taxes keep going up as well as all the inputs (forms, shipping, etc)
2- I have been one of the cheapest around compared to old stand by shops and I’m faster
3-quality comes at a price, you can get cheap untanned thrown together mounts elsewhere.
4- I’m a crazy woman 😉

Attention:
If you cape a deer out or pay and have a local processor cape it out and it looks like this get ready to pay. 💵💵
This deer has no brisket and there is no way to fix it other than making some rock in the place, matching a spare piece of hide in, or replacing the hide.

Extra capes will cost this season, as well as cut up capes that require lots of sewing.
Extra capes start at $100. No work will start until 1/2 deposit is made and cape paid for in full (if cape is junk).
So it will be better to do it right the first time. If you don’t know what your doing or not sure about the local processor give me a call.
I’d rather cape your deer out correctly as I had waste my time on this. I charge 0.

Little wood grain for a Saturday shadowbox.
They don’t make wood like this anymore, considering this was sinker cottonwood that’s probably a few hundred years old. 😱
