Starting many horses and put solid foundations on them. I specialize in Reining, from the very first ride, to showing horses I have finished, others I have started have gone on to excel in barrels, cutting, ranch work, English, dressage, hunter, pleasure and more. I use a blend of different approaches from the many trainers I have studied under, including Stacy Westfall and Clinton Anderson. My ho
rses get ridden/worked 5 days a week for at least an hour a day. Some horses get worked longer, depending on the skills we are working on. Others get half an hour twice a day if their minds aren’t ready for long work hours. I like to break it up for the younger ones. They will learn patience, standing for grooming, tacking and farrier. Learn to accept scary objects such as tarps, whips, balls and the dreaded fly spray! If you are sending your horse to be started from the ground up, I normally recommend sending them for 90 days. Though each horse learns at their own pace, I feel 90 days gives me enough time to really get a decent start on their training, some go farther than others in that time but most can be walk/trot/lope in control and easily guided on correct leads, trot over poles, be guided through patterns 2 handed and yield their hips and shoulders. It all, of course, depends on how willing your horse is to learn and how quickly he picks up on things. If there is something specific you want your horse to know, we can work on that as well. This includes daily care – feeding twice a day, turn out, stall cleaning, as well as training 5 days a week and one free lesson a month to help us all stay on the same page and work together to help you and your horse. Any extra lessons get a discount while your horse is in training. Lessons are available on your own horses, your place or mine. Private lessons are $40 an hour. Group lessons are $30 an hour. (minimum 2 horses, 2 riders. 2 riders cannot share one horse for group discount)
Minimum age requirement for lessons is 5 years old.
