Hedge Quill Hogs (HQH) is a small-scale hobby breeding herd, located in Skagit County, about an hour and a half from Seattle, Washington, and a good hour or so from the Canadian Border. Our herd is very small, which allows us to focus intently on one or two litters at a time. Our limit is three breeding females, which doesn't require us to have a USDA license. Our goal is produce both breeding qua
lity, and perfect pet quality hedgehogs; who are all given individual attention for hours, welcoming you to have an extremely socialized hedgehog. Hedgehogs are naturally not great domestic pets per se, as they are still very much wild despite being in captivity for twenty years. However, a breeder makes all the difference, when it comes to handling and caring for young hoglets. We breed for both color, and temperament, but a hedgehog's temperament is definitely the main priority. We are trying to achieve a balanced group of both light scale and dark scale hedgehogs; and do have the snowflake and c**n, and high pinto mutations in our hogs. We are an honest breeder; what you see below, and around this site is what you will get through us. We welcome all inquiries to our hedgehogs, as well as any questions you should have especially if you are not sure if a hedgehog is right for you. All of our hogs are registered with the International Hedgehog Registry (IHR). We greatly suggest others who purchase through us to do the same, and we are more than happy to help you do this. Hedgehogs rely predominantly on human interaction to be a good pet. To set up a scenario -- which babies do you think are the most handled? The breeder with 5 litters on the ground with a whopping 18 babies, or the breeder with 2 litters and 5 babies? It's a pretty obvious decision, if you think about it! :)
