⚠️Flood Watch Upgraded to a Flood Warning:
Flood Warning Update 12/5:
The U.S. National Weather Service has upgraded Skagit County from a Flood Watch to a Flood Warning, effective through early Thursday morning, December 7, 2023.

As of 8:30 a.m. today, December 5, 2023, the Skagit River near Concrete is predicted to be close to crest at 4:00 p.m. and be fully crested at 38.02 feet at 10:00 p.m. tonight. The Skagit River near Mount Vernon is anticipated to crest at 35.47 feet on December 6, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. Both levels are above their respective major flooding thresholds, of 32.5 feet (Concrete) and 32 feet (Mount Vernon).

The Skagit County Emergency Operations Center has contacted Red Cross for shelter options for upriver residents displaced by flood water. Roads are being impacted by flood waters and will be closed as necessary. Please do not drive over flooded roadways and practice “Don’t drown, turn around.” Please follow road closure and cautionary signs and do not drive around barricades. Water can be deeper and faster moving than anticipated, presenting risks to drivers.

To monitor road closures, visit the Skagit County road closure webpage here: https://www.skagitcounty.net/reporting/roadclose/

Residents should be prepared to take action to protect their homes, families, and livestock from floodwaters. For health and safety related information about floods, visit the Skagit County Emergency Information webpage. For updated river forecasts, please call the River Level Hotline at (360) 416-1404, or visit the National Weather Service webpage below for the most recent hydrographs: https://water.weather.gov/ahps2/hydrograph.php?wfo=sew&gage=mvew1.

If you have questions, or are looking for a location to pick up sandbags, please contact Skagit County Department of Emergency Management at (360) 416-1850.

⚠️Flood Watch: Due to multiple incoming storms, the Skagit River is expected to reach Major Flood conditions by Tuesday 12/5 into Wednesday 12/6. Concrete is expected to crest at 35.27 feet (Major Flood stage is 32.5 feet) around 4pm on Tuesday. Mount Vernon is expected to crest at 31.95 feet around 4pm on Wednesday evening (Major Flood stage is 32 feet). If you are in a flood prone, low lying area please take the necessary precautions in the next few days.

For more emergency information as this event progresses, sign up for the emergency information listserv or CodeRed Alerts. The River Level Hotline is 360-416-1404 and www.skagitcounty.net/flood is updated frequently during events with current conditions.
