2024/2025 State 4-H Dog Association Kickoff & Organizational Meetings! Your State Dog Project Committee has a vision of the future of our Statewide Project Events and we want to share it with you!

In-person meeting on May 5, 2024 – this is a human meeting only, no dogs

Location: at Holiday Inn and Suites, Rothschild, 1000 Imperial Avenue, Rothschild, WI 54474 (Wausau area),

Time: from 10:30am -3:30pm (tentative).

Registration: Pre-registration is required for the meeting to make sure we have an accurate lunch count.

Registration Deadline: April 19th

Registration Link: https://forms.gle/ADYgSEdN4YUFrpCK9

Cost: The only cost for the day is $12, to cover the cost of the lunch. If this cost is going to be a burden to your family, please let Jill Jorgensen ([email protected]) know and we will work to make sure this cost is covered.

What is happening: We will be working on planning the 2024 State 4-H Dog events and learning seminars. Your input is important to the group, and we will need many hands to help make these events a success!

The team would love to have 4-H dog project members and volunteers who are interested in giving input, learning more about what the State Board is working toward, and/or helping with planning state events join us at the face-to-face meeting.

The meeting will be a best fit for dog project adult volunteers and members in 6th grade and older. With that said, all dog project members are welcome, if these areas interest them.

Great way to get back into training.

Great way to get back into training.

Are you tired of Fido pulling you around, barking at others, or wrapping you up with the leash during every walk? Let’s fix it!

This is a workshop focused entirely on fixing manners on the leash. We will be learning how to teach loose leash walking both with a tool-less (positively reinforcement based) method AND we will cover methods involving one of the safest and most effective tools on the tools market to assist with this issue (prong collars). We will also discuss other tool options. If you have a prong collar, you are welcomed to bring it. We will be covering safe fitting and use for those who intend to use them! We will also have some Herm sprenger prong collars for sale that may be purchased at this workshop. Again, you do NOT need to intend on using a prong to attend this! It is just something we like to cover thoroughly. You may choose to focus only on the tool-less methods.

Please do NOT bring your dog on a retractable leash! 4-6ft leashes only, please. Lots of high value treats should also be in tow!

This workshop is taught at the Veterans Memorial Park in Black River Falls on Saturday, April 27! We will start at 11:00am.

The fee is $40 and your spot is not booked until the fee is received! You may send it to us on Venmo
OR card over the phone. We also accept cash, checks, or cards at the shop!

Spots are limited! We expect this one to fill quickly so reserve your spot soon! 🐾

(Refund policy: you may receive a refund if you need to cancel UP TO 24 HOURS before the workshop. Anything less than 24 hours cannot be refunded.)
