I am Megan Espeland, I am wife to my husband, Alec Espeland, and mom to our precious girl, Stetson! Alec is a 4th year medical student, soon to be Dr. Alec Espeland this May! He will have his first job as a Dr. in Lubbock, TX as an EM resident this June☺️

I am originally from Southern California and I grew up playing just about every sport, raised and showed market lambs, horses and pygmy goats in 4-H, was Jr. Miss Rodeo Lancaster back in the day and grew up competing in junior rodeo, gymkhanas and play days! My events in junior rodeo were barrels, poles, goat tying, breakaway roping and ribbon roping.

I put aside my love of horses to follow my love of volleyball through college. I got to fulfill my dream of playing in college at Dowling College to transferring to UT Austin and being apart of a National Championship Team in 2012, and then graduating from there in 2014🤘.

As my volleyball career came to an end, I knew my heart and soul needed those beautiful creatures we call horses back in my life. Since graduating college my resume with horses has been so full and exciting! I worked as an assistant trainer to a reining horse trainer in So Cal, an assistant to a barrel horse trainer in South Dakota and then as a vet tech and on call surgery tech at Littleton Equine Medical Center.

I pursued Equine Therapy, because as an athlete myself, I can relate to how much bodywork has helped me through the stresses of training at an elite level. Our equine counterparts work so hard and I am so excited to give them a therapy that will help relieve the soreness and tension they acquire as athletes!

Welcome to Vertex Equine Sports Therapy! Thank you for taking the time to visit my page! My name is Megan Espeland, I am a certified equine sports therapist currently servicing the Denver and surrounding areas.

My technique is a muscular skeletal bodywork that’s a combination of deep tissue massage, physical therapy, acupressure, trigger point release and stretches. This combination helps the horse self adjust!

My technique is also, Structural Integration for Horses - Deep tissue massage and rebalancing mixed together. A massage type of therapy for horses that will rebalance the body left to right, front to back, inside and out. Changes will happen in natural balance, performance, flexibility and behavior.

Structural Integration is a type of bodywork that focuses on the connective tissue, or fascia, of the body. Fascia surrounds muscles, groups of muscles, blood vessels, organs, and nerves, binding some structures together while permitting others to slide smoothly over each other.
