This weekend, a few of our personal dogs got to head out for some fun in the sun and some Fast Cat!

Gris, Bean, Etta, and Apollo all had a blast despite the heat & I’m sure are already counting down the days until their next set of runs.

Everyone say hello to Hank!

Hank is our friendly livestock animal for Farm Dog Certification practice! He’s the sweetest boy & will happily tell everyone his favorite part of class is when the dogs & handlers bring him food!

Farm dog certification is open to all breeds, PAL, and Canine Partners with the AKC. These 12 exercises test your dogs ability to be a working farm dog. It’s an amazing bonding opportunity & a fun activity.

We offer farm dog practice which is perfect for you if you’re looking to see if your dog is ready for their FDC test, or for additional exposure for puppies & dogs to unusual environments.

Does anyone in the Wanette/Lexington area recognize this dog? He showed up at a client's house this morning & looks well taken care of.
She hopes to find his home, but so far, no one has come looking for him.

One of my favorite things about fall is how much more enjoyable outdoor training time is!
Which means our Introduction to Tracking class is coming soon! There are no prerequisites, though we will work through all weather conditions unless severe weather (hail, tornadoes, etc.) is expected.
Yes, even if it snows!

This class does have a rotational location, but will all be within 10-20 minutes of Norman.

Last night we had a special scent work class for the Dachshunds of OKC group! Everyone had a ton of fun learning a new activity and introducing odors to their pups.

We still have space for our 6 week class next week! Included is a mini kit for at home practice & lifetime email or text support. Sign up on our website or send us a message to reserve your spot!

Blue Ridge Prairie is an AMAZING photographer. She’s done all of our dogs pro photos & she is out at a lot of events we are at. If you’ve ever considered professional photos of your pets, I highly recommend Erica!

Here's an updated list of events I have scheduled for the rest of the year. I am currently booking out as far as next summer/fall, so if you have an event or even a session you'd like to schedule, please get in contact with me ASAP to get on my calendar!

A year ago I would've never believed this is what my schedule of events alone would look like. It's such an honor and a blessing to be able to have an opportunity to work with each and every one of you!

Please note, I have no more weekends available for the rest of the year! I do have limited spots for weekday availability for portrait sessions!

Another Outland K9 member is Barbarian, AKA Bean!

Bean is our almost two year old Swedish Vallhund, or Västgötaspet! Records for these guys date back to Viking times! Once almost extinct, the were revived following WWII & first came to the US in 1985. He’s the smallest guy of our bunch, but definitely has a huge personality! You’ll catch us at AKC events & conformation shows with him & are welcome to meet him anytime during tracking class, barn hunt classes on the farm, or just send us a message!

Etta got a little bit of practice tracking last night with a trail aged a little over 2 hours. Across gravel, cow paths, leaves, and to the grassy area for a decently long trail & with lots of distractions!

Meet Apollo! The youngest member of the Outland K9 team!

Apollo is our 15-week-old Beauceron puppy and our future demo dog! He's already one of the sweetest guys and full of energy and mischief. We’re so excited to see where he takes us!
He’ll be making his first public appearance this weekend in OKC & will show everyone just how wild & crazy the first time a dog attempts scent work or tracking can be.

I don’t think we’ve ever officially introduced the crew, so we’re going to start with the original Outland K9 dog, Etta!

Etta is our 3-year-old German shepherd & the one you’re most likely to see us out and around town with! For scent work, she has been trained on narcotics & is currently working on birch and anise to compete in AKC sports. She’s also trained to track downed game! Her favorite sport is probably dock diving & she loves to run. Her full name with all currently held titles is:

Our first ever “training tip Tuesday” post! We know how frustrating it can be to potty train a new puppy, but we promise, the reward is worth it in the end. Avoid out dated methods & keep potty training fun for your puppy with lots of high value treats and praise when they do their business outside.

Both of these girls actively compete in several AKC sports and both are actively training for tracking and scentwork. You might have seen Etta exploring Norman with our lead trainer Virginia, or you might meet her at one of our group classes!
