We have had an increase in lost dogs in the last couple weeks due to storms and fireworks. So we are asking all residence to make sure that your dogs have their collars on with their license and rabies tag on them. This would make it easier for us to just bring your dog right back home to you. Happy Independence Day from the Southbury Animal Control.

This is Dakota. Dakotas mom sadly passed away and try as they might her family just could not give Dakota the time and attention she deserves so they made the extremely difficult decision to surrender her to us in hopes of finding the right home for her. Dakota is a 3 yr old Kleepoo. Her vaccines are overdue. She is shy and a bit nervous but with a little time to warm up she does seem to be fine. She is supposed to be good with other dogs her size but afraid of bigger dogs so meet and greets are required. Seems fine with cats not sure about small children. This poor turkey vulture was very unhappy to be caught today but is now getting the best treatment possible to hopefully make a recovery thanks to A Place Called Hope. It was very underweight and lost some of its tail feathers, as well as a possible injury to its left wing.

These two kids are ready for adoption. The grey is a female and the black/white is male. They are approximately 12weeks old. They will be placed separately so please no comments on keeping together. This little girl was picked up last weekend as a stray and no one has come forward for her. We are calling her Joanna. Joanna’s legal day of adoption is Monday 6/10. She is what we think a husky/shepherd mix approximately 6mo old. Joanna is super sweet and loves people. She will need some basic obedience training as she’s still very young. We do not know how she is with other dogs but meet and greets are required. Joanna showed no interest in the cats either. This is Sophie. We are amazed she’s still here. We think Sophie is a Bassett hound/Pitx because of her small size. She appears to be around 2yr old. Sweet girl who is a bit on the shy side. Once she is comfortable with you she’s all wiggles till then she lays down and rolls over when scared. We do have a trainer who has come in and worked with her a little bit on her confidence. She hasn’t shown interest in our cats here and ignores the other dogs, meet and greets are required if you have existing pets. This is Cinnamon. She is a Rhodesian Ridgeback/Mastiff/Lab that is approximately 5mo. She is super sweet and full of puppy energy. She seems to be ok with other dogs but meet and greets are required she is nonresponsive to cats. Loves all people she meets. Because Cinnamon is such a big girl we have had a dog trainer offer up some obedience work with her. She is doing fantastic and super responsive. We are very busy as you can see. This is beautiful girl Mama Trixie. Animal Control took her and her kittens in. She is ready now to be Spayed and all vetted. 📞 Alert Animal Control in the town where you found the dog. If after hours of Animal Control, call the police non-emergency number.
🤞🏼 Most lost dog owners will call Animal Control to report their dog missing.
✅ Animal Control is the safest and fastest way for the lost dog to get
reunited with its family.
❌ DO NOT rehome or sell the dog assuming it's a stray.
🥹 Many lost dogs never get reunited with their families because the finders either keep the dog or sell/give it away to someone else.
‼️ Dogs are considered personal property in CT. It's the law to report a found dog to Animal Control.

A few weeks ago Officer Carney rescued a injured hawk off of I91 that was suffering from a head injury. After spending some time at A Place Called Hope he made a full recovery and we were able they pick him up for release. Here he is being released.
